Greetings, I am currently working on an attendance study for MLS using regression modeling, and one thing I have yet to find is a definitive list of every MLS team, and who has owned them for each season. Does anyone know where I can find such a list? I am curious to see how including ownership variables alters/hampers attendance in the league. Any help that anyone can give will be great, thanks!
I think one thing i forgot to mention, is that I need who owned them for each year. So for a team like Chicago it would simply be AEG: 1998-2007 But for say New York 1996-2005: AEG 2006-2007: RedBull I have obviously found stuff for all the teams, but I really need a definitive list that gets every year right, so I can code variables for ownership. Yeah I've compiled it all, its every team for every year that they played but LA. I think LA was owed at least part of the time by AEG, but I have no idea about when. Also thanks everyone for the great help! I should be ready to run the data as soon as I get the LA data and code it.

Well technically the team was owned by John Kluge and Stuart Subotnick, who happen to own MetroMedia. But the team was never actually owned by the company.
After doing a bit more research, it turns out some sources state that API Soccer was D.C. United's first Investor/Operator before AEG, while other sources state that it was Washington Soccer, L.P. Which one was it? -G
I was searching for the answer and came across this article from June 2001. FWIW, it says Washington Soccer, L.P., owned by George Soros and Octagon (though I'm sure someone could find sources referring to API as well).
