What a horrible disappointment this has been

 

Yikes. Not a good sign.

 

When I saw clips of him in preseason he just seemed to be out of sync with his teammates for whatever reason -

didn;t seem like he can't play at this level...maybe he was pressing? maybe just needs more time....

odd, though....

really expected him to come in and shine

 

Maybe a personality clash with the coach or off-the-pitch personal issues?

Ajax verloor vorige week met 2-1 van Liverpool en AZ. Nu heel wat spelers vertrokken voor de interlandbreak speelde een vertimmerd Ajax een oefenpot tegen FC Utrecht. Ook die werd met 2-1 verloren, de derde nederlaag op rij voor de troepen van trainer Alfred Schreuder.

Ajax opende in de eerste helft de score via Lorenzo Lucca. Luuk Brouwer en Rick Meissen zorgden voor de 1-2 ruststand in het voordeel van de bezoekers. Magallan kreeg nog een tweede gele kaart na de rust, na een opstootje met Younes.

Given his age (20?) and transition into a different playstyle I'm not that concerned yet. He needs adaption time and the team around him on awol against PSV wasnot a very supportive environment.
That's why time spent in the young team is very important for him.
One of the worst decisions the Feyenoord managent of 2013 made was to ignore the invitation to let Young Feyenoord join our second tier. That division is a major step in the development proces of young players getting ready to step into the first team in the Eredivisie. PSV, Ajax and AZ Alkmaar have their young talents far better prepared to make the transition into the first team than Feyenoord.

 

Booth gets a cup start against Sportlust - which not incidentally, would be a good name for a future BigSoccer spinoff site.

 

Subs off in the 82nd minute with a 2-0 lead over the amateurs.

 

Voetbal Internsational rated his performance against PSV with a 5.

See? He totally deserves the #10 shirt. Second assist on the day.

 

well not going to speculate on that - doubtful imo - but I think with Booth...

again, going back to preseason, I expected him to come to Netherlands and show off....but watching him early season - it was like he was operating under false priorities or kind of dancing to the beat of a different drummer for whatever reason....it was weird watching him...cant remember ever seeing quite that level of out of syncness before.....

could have been mental could have been communication problems on one end or both.....

BUT

thankfully, it seems, he has figured it out now.

 

As I posted a few days ago it takes time to adjust and fit in.
