He's just mad because Pizza Hut Park is 15 mins from my house and one hour from his.
Good to see you've done your research, doesn't change anything I said.
How the hell am I supposed to know? He may not be under the threat of constant assassination, but I certainly give a pass to any US Congressman, former or present that feels they need any additional protection. And why am I answering your questions about Gore, don't you want to draft him to run in 2008?
to each his own... but Cedar Hill can be picked from a lineup of suburbs unlike Plano/Irvine CA/Upper Arlington OH/Roswell GA.
I may be slightly bitter...no reason why they couldn't reclaim land somewhere near downtown, ala the AAC.
You're an idiot. Fine Al Gore has extenuating circumstances that means he doesn't have to respect the environment. Cool. Then don't go preaching and making documentaries about how other people should do what you can't do. It is common sense, something you obviously lack.
Let me guess, when he was a tobacco farmer (which is brutal on the earth) it was ok? Everytime we look into Al Gore's life he isn't practicing what he preaches but that's ok with you?
Face it, you and the other idiot Bojendick have chosen some seriously flawed and corrupt politicians to back. John Edwards accepting illegal donations from Geoffry Fieger.....John Edwards as a trial lawyer putting up signs that read "are you a victim of Malpractice?" but Bojendick doesn't have a problem with that.
I'm not gonna pretend that George Bush is some honest and great president....so why don't you show some honesty and admit Gore, Edwards, Obama and Hillary are pieces of crap too.
And insulting me does little to prove any point you may be trying to make.
I don't see how preaching about what the ordinary citizen can do is hypocritical because he's in a position where he can't do those things. It's no different than if our current president preached conservation.
Wow, want to stretch even further? Find somewhere where I said anything remotely close to that.
Again, I can't speak for Bojendyk, but I don't support John Edwards and I'm not exactly sure why you bring him up.
Again, I don't know why I have to admit any of those people are crap. The issue was that people felt Gore was hypocritical for using a private jet...I remarked how it was probably for security purposes, so I'd give him a pass for that. I'm puzzled as to why you feel the need to rant on like a crazy person.
So Al Gore can go to the mall with his wife, and to the barber, and to the movies, and out to dinner, and to all his paid public apperances, but he can't get on a plane in which every single passenger has gone through tighter security than any one person going to the same place as him throughout the rest of the day?
I don't support Edwards either. He's pretty much at the bottom of the list of candidates for me, even after the no-hopers.
Nice try, though.
Since the diversity on my street is around 50/50 with 50% white and 50% middle eastern/asian/other, I had to look up the population numbers and, as I suspected, it looks like you don’t know what you’re talking about. Plano is, in fact, not quite as lily-white as the entire state of Texas.
Plano’s population is
5.02% African American
0.36% Native American
10.18% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander
3.86% from other races
2.28% from two or more races
Hispanic or Latino of any race were 10.07% of the population.
State of Texas is
35.31 percent Hispanic
12.09% Black or African
0.17% Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander
1.1% American Indian or Alaskan Native
Sounds like you’re bitter about more than just the location of PHP.
I dunno, does he do all those things? I know Tommy Lee put a Starbucks in his home. While I don't necessarily defend this type of behavior, it does give you an insight as to what someone with celebrity or semi-celebrity status has to go through in their daily routines.
When 60 minutes did a piece on Derek Jeter he was absolutely smothered by fans when he went to a manhattan coffee shop. So whether or not Gore needs is for security or possibly just because of his recognized status I don't know, but I'm simply trying to give a different view as to why this may be rather than the knee-jerk reaction of OMG F-CKING HYPOCRITE!
If that's not playing with the numbers to make your case I don't know what is. Do you not realize that Hispanics many times are counted as both white and latino? Using those numbers theres no way to prove one way or another whether you or I are correct.
Politicians on both sides have hypocrisy to some extent. Perhaps that's the case with Gore here; it certainly is with some of the Learjet liberal Hollywood crowd. Is some of this justifyable? Probably (tax credits, security reasons), but it's still hypocritical.
But the Republicans are no better. A holier than though family values senator getting hand jobs in an airport bathroom. How pathetic.
But regardless of all this it doesn't mean that the policies either side promotes are necessarily wrong. Global warming is clearly a legitimate problem that needs to be dealt with no matter how Gore travels. And I'm sure Craig was (I say "was" instead of "is" because I'm sure he'll be gone soon) correct about some things too like free trade.
So what's your carbon footprint?
If the spokesman for global warming is a fraud, chances are that the spokesman's pitch is a fraud too...
So you’re telling me that those white numbers could be inflated? Then I guess we’ll just take your word for it.
Btw, I don't own a hummer and I drive a 4 cylinder to work. But hey, you know best.
I don't see anyone rushing to defend craig.
And an apt comparison would be if Craig said flew around the country saying that anonymous homosexual encounters would contribute have catastrophic consequences on the earth and potentially lead to the extinction of the human species, and then went around to airport bathrooms tapping his foot and soliciting men is stalls despite the belief that it's going to destroy all as we know it.
I didn't know who he was before this, but if he preached against homosexual acts, then yes he's a hypocrate. And I'm not talking voting against gay marriage. One can be against gay marriage without being anti-gay or homophobic.
The fact of the matter is that Gore flies around on private jets, living in extreme luxury (with an extremely high "carbon-footprint") while telling us all to conserve energy and lesson our carbon-footprint, but thinks it's okay because he buys "carbon offsets"
My aunt is the same way. She's been a long time environmentalist (although as far as I know not on the way way wacky end of the spectrum) and then drives a lexus SUV and just built a huge house and justifies it by saying she donates to greenpeace so she deserves to indulge herself.
Either he doesn't believe what he preaches and all y'all are the more foolish for following the fool, or he's an eletist hypocrate who thinks he's above all us peons who should be doing as he says.
And the fact of the matter is that these are the people who have the money to do what they want everyone else to do and still live quite comfortably.
All of the carbon footprint tests I've taken are shite and unreliable. For instance they only ask how many miles you put on your car last year, not the average MPG. Or they only ask what type of house I live in, rather than the sq footage.
We've discussed this before, I have green mountain energy just like yourself.
White numbers for the state are extremely inflated, and somewhat for Plano. And if you don't understand how demographics are measured then I can't help you.
I never said you drove a hummer, I was just generalizing Plano. Its cool if you want to live there, I know good people from Plano, I just thought it was odd that you avoided bojendyk's comments on his sustainable lifestyle and went straight to 'my school system's better' as if Plano is some sort of mecca of a fantastic lifestyle.
Okay, but he did go to the coffee shop. And if there was a 60 minutes peice on it, I'd venture a guess that he was being followed around by at least 3 people, one camera, and one mic. Which isn't exactly my idea of being inconspicuous.
While I don't envy not being able to go to McDonalds and throw a drunken BF at 2 in the morning in Toronto witout it making the tabloids, it comes with the territory of being a celebrity and being paid in one year what I likely won't earn in my lifetime.
Guess which give I would pick despite it's take?
Here ya go...
Google's a wonderful thing.
This is pretty funny.
You attacked before you even knew what you were attacking. My point, and you well know this, is that typically CBD schools are not that great. Please tell me why you live in Cedar Hill, for the view???
It showed what my footprint would be "if I did certain things", but didn't give me a chance to calculate them in if I already do do those things. It also doesn't ask what I keep my thermostat at, only how I could reduce it by turning it down X-Amount of degrees. And as you know in Texas, it matters greatly in the summer. It also estimated my electricity use based on what I pay on my bill at an average of 10 cents/kilowatt hr, when my average is 13-14 cents peak & off-peak.
With that being said, my family of 3 is at 31,956 a year, with the average household of 2 being at 41,500.
The view? Yeah that's a part of it. Its also cheaper, my daughter's school is exemplary, the crime rate is similar to that of other burbs, and the racial makeup is diverse.
I think the questions on your energy bill are more relevant than what your thermostat is set on. For instance, my bedroom is on the SW corner of the house. During the day, the thermostat is set on 79, yet on any given August day, the room gets up to 81 with the AC running all the time and it may not cool down enough to kick it off. Now if there were trees outside blocking the sun, it would be cooler and the AC would run less. That’s why the electric bill question makes more sense to me.
That's possible, but this is baseball-crazy New York we're talking about. I'm sure Yogi Berra can hardly walk the streets sometimes.
I would take the same route as well and I don't blame anyone who does. I do understand however, why some in hollywood or washington or even famous NYC or Chicago CEO's would feel the need to have a limo to 'disguise' themselves in public. Its a lot easier to get around that way than having people honk and ask for your autograph at a redlight while you drive your prius. That's the only point I'm trying to make with why someone who preaches environmental friendly policies would act in such a way. I do agree that your aunt sounds like a hypocrite though.
Maybe he is being a hypocrite, but that doesn't necessary negate that the scientists behind the theory aren't legit in their studies or findings.
