Rossonero, the US plays a lot of games on non FIFA dates so mediocrities and prospects in MLS get their chances then. Plus, the US plays in the continental championship every two years, but only takes one of every two seriously. In the midst of Word Cup qualifying, the US lets its best players skip the Gold Cup and that’s another place where those MLSers get caps.

They lost 3-2 after going up 2-0 by the 33rd minute (side note: Busio scored the first). I didn't watch the game. Tessman ranked MOTM for Venezia by fotmob with a 7.6 (Busio tied for 2nd with a 7.3).

if those two are continually their best players then it may be better if Venezia don't go back up since they will be a weak team again. I'd think both players move if Venezia fail.

Tessmann played the full 90 minutes and scored 2 goals off corner kicks to help Venezia defeat Brescia today by a 2-0 scoreline.

Venezia sit in 3rd place in Serie B with 5 matches to go.

1st and 2nd go up automatically. 3rd and 4th would enter in the semifinals of a 6-team promotion playoff for the third promotion spot.

"Very happy for the double and for contributing to the team, the most important thing was the three points though. We have to focus only on the next games, on ourselves and our performance. We believe in our qualities, this win certainly gives us an extra boost but we want to work hard as we have always done ahead of the next five matches. We didn't get down after the missed chances, we kept playing our game and in the end the second goal came."

Wow.... with 5 games to go Venezia has a legit shot to get 2nd place (and auto-promotion). They are on 61 points... just 3 behind Como at 64. But Venezia has a likely insurmountable GD (+22 to +14).... so if they draw level w/ Como on points they will likely be going up.

This optimistic outlook took a huge hit today, as Venezia, playing a man down, fall 3-2 after a re-taken 96th minute penalty. Tessmann's stats fairly pedestrian on the disappointing day, with a couple of shots taken off target, 5/6 on accurate long balls.

Down 4 points to Como with two matches to play. Guaranteed a spot in the playoffs, though.

The opposition was really good and from the few minutes I saw (from up 2-1 to tied 2-2), the Venezia midfield was overrun. Wasn't surprised to see it finish 3-2

Note that Venezia was reduced to ten men during that critical timeframe.

    56’ Venezia go ahead 1-2

    58’ Venezia down to ten

    60’ Catanzaro draws level 2-2

True, but Catanzaro was just cleaner on the ball and took better touches and made better decisions. Easier done when up a man yes, but I'm yet to be very impressed by this Venezia team, personally. They seem to eek out wins and if they were to get promoted, they'd have another tough go in Serie A. Tessman (and to a lesser extent Busio) being one of their standouts might not be the good news it feels like.

Tessmann comes on at the half of a 2-1 win over lowly FeralpiSalo. 84% passing and a chance creating, putting up a high FotMob for a sub. The win combined with Como being held to a draw leaves Venezia with a slim chance of automatic promotion - they need to beat Spezia and hope Como do no better than draw Cosenza on Friday evening.
