Owen Hargreaves is on the way it looks like! Had a medical this morning at the Bridgewater although no offer has been confirmed yet. So long as we only pay him when he plays, as is common with injury ravaged players, this could be a huge coup. Especially considering he has been to the doctor who saved Shaq's career as a basketballer, who claims Hargreaves is 100% now. If it goes through it saves us the 20m touted for De Rossi as Mancini wants another midfielder with Vieira retired and Yaya off to African Cup of Nations in January.
What is the word on Tevez. Is he staying for sure? I mean the manager told many times that he wants to keep him but did Tevez commit himself to the club? I heard his family has just come to England. Is this a sign that he stays or moves to antoher club?
Tevez is staying Bellamy has been linked with Liverpool, QPR, Stoke today SWP has been linked with QPR
Welcome to Manchester, Owen Hargreaves. http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/Team-news/2011/August/Hargreaves-signs-for-City
This is a no risk deal, and i'm ok with it. Come play here for a year to get yourself back on track, if it doesn't work out costs virtually nothing(in football terms).
Agreed. Low-risk. Provides depth if he stays healthy. Big if. But most important: It pisses off the Rags.
SWP gone for second and probably final time to QPR. His interview on Sky Sports News, he looked like he'd been told he had cancer or something, thanked the City fans, and said his heart will always be blue. Shauny... Bellamy gone to Liverpool and good riddance, just a shame we have our own Winston Bogarde with Wayne Bridge refusing loan deals to Celtic and Fenerbahce to sit on his contract and not play. But we got most of the deadwood out in some way and in total over 30 players have left permanently or on loan, including loans for youngsters like Guidetti (Feyenoord) and Boyata (Bolton).
I love our young players like Boyata, Guidetti, McGiven, and Weiss going on loan. For sure I wouldn't want to give up on them just because they can't get on spot on the roster. These guys are going to decent teams too. In a year's time, they will have gained tons of experience and might be worth a lot more than they are now. We can't rely on big spending forever. Our development of youth is a more sustainable strategy.
Love SWP for what he's given to the club. But he wasn't so gutted when he went to Chelsea... That being said, he'll always be a Blue.
manchester city, barcelona, manchester united, chelsea and real madrid have all invested heavily in the transfer market this season to reign supreme int he champions league... barcelona have gotten even stronger with sigini of fabergas and sanchez.... but real madrid too have invested in a few players to challenge barca dominance...manchester united signined in lots of young promising players to continue to set bench marks for dominance in english football.. chelsea and manchester city too have sigined in lots of players so that they do not have to fall behind manchester united.. and with ac and inter also showcasing their financial muscles the european season promises to be quite a block buster.. here our collection of all the manchester city news covering transfer and all this season match report.. http://www.vidfootie.com/soccer/club/view/aRzXEaFUpyjE8KD2NeuJYQ_3D_3D/#news
According to stories he was gutted when he went to Chelsea and in tears on the way to the medical. Remember we were skint back then and the sale of Shaun may have saved us from financial oblivion at that time, giving us 21 million to put into the bank. When he got the chance to come back he jumped at it.
Would he have if he was playing first team football there? I don't know. I'm not trying to dump on SWP. He's always given everything to City when on the pitch. I'm glad he'll be getting more playing time at QPR. He deserves it.

I had no idea so many Rags were feeling such angst about the departure of a player who made a grand total of 4 appearances in the last three years.
"The best young player in the world" is to join us soon according to the Mirror. A bit of an eccentric headline as he's 15 but we're signing Zakaria Bakkali in a big money deal from PSV Eindhoven, probably in the next transfer window. He was voted "the best young player in the world" at the 2011 Nike Cup and is a small and speedy forward. Our aggressive youth recruitment continues, I love it.
We have signed (*cough* poached *cough*) a 15-year-old Portuguese boy called Marco Lopes (AKA Ronny) from Benfica, who is a left-footed attacking midfielder and is supposed to be an excellent talent.
What will Arsenal do when we've drained them of their of age talent, and stolen their poaching skills as well.
Joe Hart headed stateside!?!? And not to the MLS! Word is that the Oakland Raiders of the NFL are looking for a punter and Hart is keen to try something different. http://worldfootballdaily.com/blog?...dest=/pg/jsp/community/blog/poddetailblog.jsp
City are to sign the crown jewel of Real Madrid's youth system, striker José Ángel Pozo (15), in the coming days, beating out Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool to sign this much hyped prospect, who represented Spain at just 15 in the U17 World Cup. From this guy who is very reliable: http://martiperarnau.blogspot.com/2011/12/jose-angel-pozo-el-delantero-estrella.html
more importantly would be the question, when will Man City have their own crown jewel of their own youth system rather than whose other system can they find and buy
We've had three of those in three generations (before the money arrived): Shaun Wright-Phillips, Micah Richards, and Daniel Sturridge. All were or are £12m+ players. Our academy shouldn't be questioned as we've developed lots of good footballers and continue to do so. The Swedish boy we discovered when he was 15, John Guidetti, is currently 3rd top goalscorer in the Dutch league on loan at Feyenoord for example with 11 goals in 12 games and may be our fourth striker next year. Currently we have 11 England youth internationals on our books, maybe they'll turn out as good as the above three names, maybe not, but the plans to make our academy as good as it can be are in effect. We've struck a new partnership with a school that will allow the kids to train more hours while studying, a first in English football in an attempt to close the gap on academies like Barcelona. We're also building the first Grade 1 academy in English football and the biggest in world football when it's done. With or without money we'll always develop good young players whether they are English or foreign, whether they're found on the playing fields of Manchester like Michael Johnson or identified as talented and grabbed from another youth system like Joe Hart. If teams don't look elsewhere for kids then Arsenal never would have had Fabregas, United never would have had Giggs (snatched from our old School of Excellence due to United's superior wealth - another reason City fans will never feel guilty about the club having so much money), and Chelsea never would have had Terry. The team that sits top of the U18 Premier League Group C on 31pts (compared to United on 16pts and Liverpool on 26pts) usually has one, sometimes two foreigners in the entire matchday squad (Albert Rusnak and Denis Suarez). City may be the fashionable team to hate but hating on our youth system is a bit sad when it is one of the best in English football.
