Agreed. He’s still young though. Won’t be 21 until May. There’s plenty of reason to think he will improve his consistency, even if there’s no guarantee.
BILD speculates that the game against BVB could be Kovac's last if he loses. Wolfsburg are playing terrible football at the moment. 2 wins out of 15 games.
Went the full 90 in a 1-1 draw v. Dortmund. Played alright. Switched from LW to LWB in the 2nd half. Kept and advanced possession fairly well. Could have scored on a header he couldn't control in front. Made some keen interceptions, but almost got 1-2'ed badly from his aggression, and venturing up high then not corralling a ball nearly led to the game-losing goal.
Started in a 2-2 draw: Starting 1⃣1⃣ 💪 🐺 Here's how we will start for our trip to Frankfurt 👇 #VfLWolfsburg #SGEWOB pic.twitter.com/fRjphXx2U6— VfL Wolfsburg EN/US 🇬🇧 🇺🇸 (@VfLWolfsburg_EN) February 25, 2024 He went 90' (or 101').
He played his part in the decent result. Got stuck in, plenty of intercepts, and drew a lot of fouls to hold (up) possession. Not much impact in the final 3rd. Combo of them not finding him and not being efficient in his chances. No notable passes, got off a couple halfway decent scoring efforts. Probably will continue starting. I disagree w/ the notion he's not consistent because he's generally sound in possession and helps on d. But he's not giving himself a lot of margin for error without plenty of creative impact. Maybe he stays in at l(w)b sometimes, but they're pretty content w/ Maehle who'd normally play there. FWIW, Sofascore gave him a 7.5 rating, which was tied for 3rd in the game.

Wolfsburg went down a man in the first half. At that point Leverkusen basically grabbed control of the ball and didn’t let go.
Looks like Paredes started at LB in a 4 man backline, which I don't recall seeing him do at Wolfsburg before (though they went down a man at the end of the first half so I don't know how that affected the formation). Wolfsburg gave up 2 goals after going down a man, and are now trailing 2-1 in the final 10 minutes.
The original schematic I saw showed Paredes in the Pulisic position in a 4-2-3-1. I’m not if that was correct, or what changes may have taken place after the red card (late 1st half).
I'm going off the diagram on the official Bundesliga website: https://www.bundesliga.com/en/bundesliga/matchday/2023-2024/26/vfl-wolfsburg-vs-fc-augsburg/lineup I don't know if that's accurate, but I think a lot of other sites just make guesses based on where players have started before.
It just sucks for KP and Wolfie. That's 2 straight games they go down a man in the 1st half. At least the last one was at Leverkusen. They were up against it anyway. But this one they were in control, then his teammate was careless, dumb, and that was compounded by an over-zealous ref calling a DOGSO that wasn't. You don't call an early red unless you absolutely have to. Then KP & co. were just trying to survive. Before that KP's performance was pretty good. I don't know that Kovac survives. I'm confused as to why he's still at the helm. I think KP's around 50-50 to keep his spot under the incumbent or the prospective replacement. There's been a lot of failure surrounding Wolfie lately. He's guilted by association. I don't think he's been part of the problem, but he hasn't unequivocally been part of the potential solution either.
Well, with regards to the red cards, what is the rule with regards to self cloning? Would that count as an extra man if it was the same man? Possible potential solution is all I’m saying.
