(18 and 25 July) FC Thun (SUI) v FC Chikhura Sachkhere (GEO) / FC Vaduz (LIE) Thun will kick off with a very short trip or a long one.
Vaduz drew the away match 0 to 0, setting themselves up well for the home leg. The drew at home 1 to 1 with the goal allowed as a own goal. What a terrible way to loose a fixture. Thun now gets to travel to Georgia instead of Vaduz.
For all fans of the Swiss Super League I came across this brand new page on facebook dedicated to the 2013/14 season https://m.facebook.com/?_rdr#!/home.php?soft=side-area&__user=100006356550807
tomorrow is the 3rd qualifying draw (EL + CL) Basel could be drawn vs Tiraspol, Maribor, Slovan Bratislava, Elfsborg, M. Tel-Aviv, Molde, Helsinki, Ekranas, Neftchi Baku, Dinamo Tbilisi. GC vs Lyon, Zenit, PSV, Metalist or PAOK. In the EL draw, Zurich will be seeded, but Thun unseeded
Thun with the 2-0 win. Now the away match next week. For Basel I would love Elfsborg, Ekranas, Neftchi Baku, Dinamo Tbilisi. GCZ - Metalist or PAOK.
As a fan of Israeli clubs, having to face Basel was a horrible draw for me. The champions of Israel has advanced at least two rounds in all four complete seasons since the Champions League format changed, but I expect that to end. Note that the Champions path was divided into two groups of clubs, so Basel couldn't have been drawn against some of the clubs you listed. Basel could have been drawn against: Birkirkara FC (MLT)/NK Maribor (SVN), ŠK Slovan Bratislava (SVK)/PFC Ludogorets Razgrad (BUL), Győri ETO FC (HUN)/Maccabi Tel-Aviv FC (ISR), Sligo Rovers FC (IRL)/Molde FK (NOR), FC Dinamo Tbilisi (GEO)/ EB/Streymur (FRO)
It will be Basel vs Maccabi Tel-Aviv. Here is the rundown of all the matches involving Swiss teams. 25 July Chikhura - Thun https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FC_Chikhura_Sachkhere The match will be 130 km from their home stadium because their home stadium only holds 2000 people. Thun has a 2-0 lead in this tie. FCZ joins next round, and FCSG joins in the playoff round. 30 July/6 Aug FC Basell vs Maccabi Tel Aviv 30 July / 6 Aug Olympique Lyonnais vs GCZ Both teams FC Basel and GCZ will continue their European adventure if they win or loose. The winners advance to the Champions League playoff round and the loosers advance to the Europa League play-off round. Here is the link to keep up with the coefficient progress. http://kassiesa.home.xs4all.nl/bert/uefa/data/method4/crank2014.html The 2008/2009 season drops off next year, that is good for the Swiss as it was only 2.9 points. There is an outside chance that Switzerland could get 12th place from Greece.
Here is a little something for GCZ fans to watch. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/socce...ndous-spinning-golazo-friendly-201649340.html
Thun gets an own goal in the 45' to level the score 1-1. That gives them a 3-1 aggegerate and an away goal.
Thun with a 49' goal by Joseph Martinez. They are very close to the next round. Go for the win, better for the Swiss coeffieient.
Match goes final. 1-3 and a 5-1 aggegerate for FC Thun. Next up for them is either AC Sparta Praha (CZE) ot BK Häcken (SWE).
Häcken - Sparta Prague is 0-0 after 65min Sturm Graz out cementing our 13th place in the uefa ranking
Häcken - Sparta Prague 1-0 FT Looks like a trip to Sweden is in the cards. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BK_Häcken
FC Basel has had a momentus week leading up to their first match against Maccabi Tel Aviv. The Bobadilla mess, he is suspended for today ASL match against LS. The transfer saga of Dragovic, which still has not been resolved. Add to that the fact that Mohamed Salah and Mohamed Elneny are unknowns for the away leg. Salah has been pressured by the Egyptan media to skip the trip.
30 July (tomorrow) FC Basel - 19h00 CH time GCZ - 21h00 CH time I love the days when the matches are one after another. 1 Aug (Thursday) Thun - 19h00 CH time
the Zurich match might be postponed due to high water Basel is probably playing with Sommer, P.Degen, Schaer, Ajeti, Safari, Elneny, Salah, T.Xhaka, Frei, Stocker, Streller Bobadilla is probably on the bench Delgado will arrive in Basel tomorrow and could play next week in Israel, maybe instead of Salah
