Good stuff, but significantly there's no link to an 'english' site. ITV are showing the 'other' match (which is no surprise to me) One day the english media will wake up and realise that Switzerland is the place to extract young talent from rather than the passe France/Marseille and Italy/Inter. One day?
I am watching in English. Basel and Bayern with great chances. Munich with more of the ball, but Basel with two huge chances, one off the post and another off the crossbar.
STUNNING!!! so happy for you guys from another underdog (Napoli) take out ********en Bayern...think they are tough shit...good on you boys!!! FORZA BASEL! FORZA NAPOLI!
I watched the whole game on Sky (via my mobile phone) where there was a lot of 'head scratching' going on from their pundits as to why Bayern didn't beat some Swiss side who 'accidentally' knocked out their Man Utd favourites. It wasn't the result they wanted. Oh no! Similarly, I saw highlights of the game on ITV a couple of hours later. Same story. I think they may be worrying that a Swiss side might make future progress and that it won't be a Man Utd/Chelsea/Barcelona v Man Utd/Chelsea/Barcelona Final. ......But at least they've heard of Bayern Munich (as a 'sub') Hopp Basel, and Napoli of course (Inler had a good 'un) RTA: I had trouble downloading your (pm) link. NB: The english media just think of Switzerland as being 'Christian Gross and Ramon Vega' (both of whom received enormous flak for being Swiss and therefore 'clueless' about football, when in actual fact they were ok and suffered enormous racial prejudice) Hopp Schwiiz!
Good analysis about the British media regarding the Swiss. The same thing happens here in the US with regards to college sports. When a team from outside the norm does well, there is a collective "What are they doing" response.
http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/23022012/58/champions-league-team-week-seventh-heaven-basel.html Park, Shaqiri, Dragovic, Sommer, Xhaka and Stocker all in the Champions League team of the week.
Munich is really pushing for a victory. Some of the players have stated that if they loose to Basel it would be a disaster.
No miracle in for Basel. Basel got down early and could never recover. Here is an interesting article about the interesting year in Swiss soccer: http://sports.yahoo.com/soccer/news?slug=reu-championsbasel
yes, Basel did not seem to be ready to keep up with Bayerns speed. And the Bayern players had too much space. Already vs Zurich Bayern had too much space. to have a chance vs Bayern a team has to play much more agressive and not letting much space between the lines
