As of 19 October RSL Basel 22 FCZ 20 YB 18 * Lugano 14 * GCZ 13 Servette 12 FCSG 9 Sion 9 LS 7 Luzern 6 I am still a little miffed at these calls in the Servette FCSG match @News_SFL @DanielVisentini@ServetteFCMagnifique cette VAR. C'était pénalty sur Rodelin, faute complètement oubliée par la VAR. Une honte une nouvelle fois avec un nouveau hold-up arbitral 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 pic.twitter.com/YA52dMufoG— Enfants du Servette (@EDS_blog) October 17, 2021 No PK on this one And somehow this one was not a foul pic.twitter.com/FjOVhJUT63— Tibor 🇨🇭 (@tibor_lss) October 17, 2021
At the Winter Break: Super League Challenge League: Promotion League: FCZ has had a great start to the season, it has been a long time since a club outside of Basel and YB won the league title. It is also very interesting to see how bad LS and Luzern have been this season. Yverdon seems to have stabilized in the Challenge League. Kriens is really bad. The top 5 are all with in 6 points, so it should be a fun Spring. Breitenrain is a great story, and one of my favorite lower level clubs, as I actually saw a match at their stadium. They change in a school next to the stadium, there was only one toilet for men and one for women. I think that if they do earn promotion, the stadium will hold them back Bellinzona or Stade Nyonnais might earn promotion due to Breitenrain's inability to secure the proper license. Other big news Sion might be looking for a new owner. CC is looking to retire. This might be very good for Sion, as a new owner will bring more stability in the coaching side of things, but will the new owners be willing to invest the money into the club?
So, I am sorry that I have been really absent for the past few months. Very busy. Fifa +, the for now Free Streaming service by FIFA will stream the Swiss League matches. This is the first time Swiss League matches have been legally streamed in the US in about 10 years. https://www.fifa.com/fifaplus/en/live Good week to start with FCZ-YB today.
Congrats to FCZ for a great season. LS goes down, and Luzern fights for their life as FC Sion comes back from 1-3 to draw with Servette 3-3. Crazy last day for the DCL. Aarau looked like they had it wrapped up. but lost everything on the last day. Winterthur won promotion, but Alexander Frei left to take the Manager position at Basel. I think that Kriens had the worst season in the history of the DCL.
Major changes starting in 2023-2024 to the top league. It does harken back some to the old LNA/LNB days. Main points 12 team Super League for the first 22 rounds Teams ranked 1-6 will play rounds 23-32 against each other. Teams ranked 7-12 will play round 23-32 against each other. After 32 rounds there will be a playoff system to determine who wins the league as well as who will be relegate. The info below is from here. The future modus in detail Initially, the 12 clubs play a first phase - First Stage - with home and away matches against each other (22 rounds). For the second phase - Second Stage -, the classification is divided into two (without division of points). Clubs ranked 1–6 in the “ Championship Group ” and clubs ranked 7–12 in the “ Qualification Group ” again play a home and away game against each other (10 rounds). After 32 rounds, the decisive matches follow one another in the “ Final Stage ”. During the Championship Finals - Championship Finals-, the first two of the “Championship Group” are competing for the title of champion in a best-of-three series. The leader enjoys the right to play at home in matches 1 and 3. The various parts require a winner and are decided by extra time and penalty shootouts if necessary. The 8 clubs ranked in ranks 3-6 of the “Championship Group” and ranks 1-4 of the “Qualification Group” compete in the “ Europe Play-offs ”". Three rounds (quarter-final, semi-final, final) determine the places to be allocated at that time in European competitions. Rounds 1 and 2 will be played in home and away matches according to the European model, round 3 will be played in a single final. The ranking from the second phase is still used to determine the pairings (higher ranked club against lower ranked club, etc.). While the last classified club of the “Qualification Group” is directly relegated to the dieci Challenge League (DCL), the penultimate classified club is playing a two-way “ Relegation ” match against the second in the DCL as before for last place in CSSL.
