So you heard strains of "Edelweiss" too? I thought I was just hallucinating.

Sweden's at 2-4, so a 2-0 win by Sweden would put them both at 4-4. The third tiebreaker is head-to-head competition, so Sweden would go through.

Sweden and Nigeria tied 1-1, then Sweden lost to the U.S. 0-2, so I think they are 1-3.

Edit: though, I agree with the others- I don't see Sweden beating NK by multiple goals anyway, so the question is probably moot and just for curiosity.

sweden and nigeria are in the same exact positions..

if sweden beats north korea by 3 goals, they advance..

if nigeria beats usa by 3 goals, they advance...

if BOTH 3 goal wins happen, usa and north korea go HOME...

germany's positon is group A will be known when group B plays...

if GERMANY, miraculously is in 2nd place, i'd try very hard NOT to win GROUP B..

    as to wombat...

with her USA is a contender, without her a PRETENDER...she makes so much difference, it's hard to state...

that's why RYAN waiting for her to get stitched up was thr RIGHT choice...

now, it'd be very interested to see if RYAN rests anyone against nigeria, given the quarterfinal match-up, USA will have ONE days less rest than the GROUP B team....

the bad side is usa might not win the group, and usa would face germany, versus a more tired team facing england ....

tough choice there, but usa can beat germany, IF rested....

get a couple players knocked up against nigeria, and who knows??

Does anyone think the penalty decision was closer than it looked? To me it looked like the swedish defender got a fair amount of the ball with her tackle before any contact. It would not have been outrageous IMO if there had not been a call.

You're right - somehow I remembered the result as 2-2. These five am wakeups are playing with my brain!

In the replays I saw, it was pretty clear that the defender did not touch any part of the ball. Had she touched the ball then there should not have been a penalty (imo). That said, I'm not really sure the ref was in a position to see the play from the angle the tv camera showed it. But I didn't see the ref's position in any of the replays--that was just my thought at the time.

I didn't see any ball contact at all, but there weren't any decisive camera angles. Heck, if a goalkeeper screws up that badly, the other team deserves to score, one way or another. ;)

Yeah when I saw it at first it looked like the defender might have touched the ball off of chalupny... but after watching it a couple times it was actually pretty awful defending as the swedish player had an easy opportunity to tackle it away and missed.

The pk was a correct call, Segerström needed to do this otherwise
it would have a open goalcage, it was a goalkeeper error big time.
Segerström wasen´t far from touching the ball, close one.

Sweden did ok but Usa was the better team and deserved the win, no doubt.
GG and good luck in the rest of the tournament.

What we need is 9 more Wombats. She had a pretty nice goal. Is she left footed?

I vote for Solo as the best looking women in this game.

Did the Swedish keeper make a big booboo or what?

Any one notice we hardly ever reversed our field to play away from pressure? Why was that?

Hey we won maybe that's enough.
