I was watching a YouTube clip of the Nordecke and I saw a comment from a guy who's a Hertha Berlin supporter. He was basically urging us to keep it going and to step it up even more. This posting got me thinking.

I think we should reach out to a few clubs overseas and try to establish a supporters partnership. I know that this is done amongst various supporters clubs around Europe and I'm sure other places.

I know that many of us already follow clubs over in Europe, but I think establishing an alliance with another supporters club would be fun and could open some doors in terms of networking and travel. I also think that we could avoid a conflict of interest if we tried to connect with a smaller club too.

    Just some thoughts.

Not a bad idea, but I wouldn't leave it up to a single person, or set of people, in the group to determine which club we try to hook up with. Imagine the in-fighting that would insue after that. Maybe the FO could do something to get something like this going.

See what cities are Columbus' sister city and go from there. Just my .02.

Two good ideas. For example, if we partner up with Liverpool fans, then the Arsenal, CFC, and MU fans in the Nordecke might be honked off.

I suppose starting with sister cities might be a fair balance. This way, it wouldn't be so random.

Any other teams around the world that have a similar color scheme?

yeah Marinos here, but for the context of sister clubs that was one that came to mind, especially their passion for things, yellow.

Looking at the sister cities, Dynamo Dresden in Germany is just about spot on in terms of team colors, stadium size (although they are expanding) and depending on how you look at it, supporters.

This would be really cool but I am curious as to what benefits this would have. Maybe there are a ton but I was having trouble thinking of to many.

Take Chicago for example, in terms of alliances with foreign clubs supporters. I guess it's all about who you know because they have some good networking with Polish sides from "back home". From Poland they've imported tifo such as banners (big and small, professionally made) flags, new songs/chants. Also the addition of Blanco has helped (i.e. Mexican immigrants supporting Club America) in terms of diversifying their songs, as I've heard more Spanish songs in their block.

It might be a stretch but if/when an alliance is very strong, I could see supporters groups making trips to each other's clubs to stand and support their sister groups.

I think the sister cities idea is brilliant.

I was just joking with you mate. The Red Diamonds were the first team from the J League besides Marinos that I could think of. Just joking with the fact that people will be upset if you choose their teams rival. The Red Diamonds have some crazy fan displays though. As long as the Crew don't chose Rangers, Linfield, or Chelsea as a club they have an alliance with, I'm peachy!

It's all good. Urawa is up there big time with the Torcidas and Ultras from S. America and Europe in regards to tifo. Hell, I'll go out and say they beat some of them outright.

I would think that with Guille here an obvious choice would be Boca.

No, but with all the schadenfreude that came our way due to the actions of one imbecile, I mentioned "depending how you look at it" because Dynamo Dresden has had some of racial issues amongst it's harder ultras (which mirrored that part of Germany after the wall came down).

A link with supporter groups overseas would be fantastic but we have enough trouble getting domestic fan support. I would suggest a link between a fan group in the USL, 1st or 2nd division, maybe Charleston Battery (colors are the same) or even the Cleveland City Stars (Moffat and Zayner former team) . Nothing wrong with going to a lower league for support, European teams do it all the time with feeder clubs.

If we went by Sister cities, the logical choices would be:

    the aforemention Dynamo Dresden,
    Sampdoria or Genoa in Italy,
    Betis or Sevilla in Spain,
    Maccabi Herzliya F.C in Israel
    or several Danish teams

We loaned Zayner to Cleveland City, but got him initially from the draft.

I'm sure they didn't mind Zayner playing for them, loans only make relations stronger.

The Green Army (Cleveland City) and Rochester Stampede (Rhinos) already have a relationship. Should I check and see if they might be open to adding the CSU to the alliance? (Not full fledged Green Army, but I can get you guys in touc hwith someone who is.)
Punny Crew/City connection: The acronym for the Crew supporters is the same as that of the college that City plays at.:D
