    Nov 2nd,

    Servette - Basel
    Thun - Young Boys
    GC - St. Gallen
    Aarau - Xamax
    Wil - FCZ

Some interesting games. Servette - Basel should be the top game of the week, but the Bern derby is also intriguing. GC should be motivated against St. Gallen, as they could still finish 4th before the winter break.

It amazes me that GC can be in 4th place. That would be a miracle. I fear that YB will move farther ahead in second place this weekend. If Servette can hold Basel to a draw, I would be happy. A win would be amazing. Aarau should continue is strong play of recent matches with a victory over Xamax.

Yeah, 4th place is probably just wishful thinking on my part. Not sure about Aarau beating Xamax, they got whacked pretty badly on Wednesday.

As of today, Servette has sold 13,000 tickets for the Basel game. With the walk-up, Servette should have their best crowd since the inaugural game of the stade de geneve. Let's hope they play well and avenge that 6-0 beating they got earlier this year...

    Servette - Basel 1:2
    Thun - Young Boys 1:3
    GC - St. Gallen 5:2
    Aarau - Xamax 1:1
    Wil - FCZ 2:1

    - good showing by Servette (despite the loss)
    - huge victory for GC
    - tough loss for FCZ

GC seems to be slowly getting back to old form. Thanks to Xamax's late equalizer, we're now only 2 points away from 4th...(!)

Ther recent schedule has not been too nice for Servette. They are only six points back from YB.

The top three look pretty secure right now. Aarau, FCSG, or GCZ could make a run at the UEFA Cup sopt, but I think the second CL spot will either be YB or Servette.

Next round will be interesting for the second CL qualifications place. YB vs. Servette...and last round YB will meet GC in Zurich. With 4-6 points more this would be a perfect automn round for YB. Maybe in Bern the CL will become even more concrete...even as unfortunately it won't be possible to play any UEFA matches in Bern till the new stadium is inaugrated.

I haven't completely given up on 2nd place, but if GC doesn't make it, I would like to see Servette finish 2nd. They got a beautiful stadium, and some CL matches might stir up more excitement for Servette in Geneva.

Yeah, the new Stade de Geneve is very nice. I saw the Switzerland vs. Albania in June there. Unfortunately people in Geneva claim too muchsuccess by their team till they support really Servette and go to the Stadium....and with lack of success they stay away from one moment to another again. Maybe CL games will give them a kick....most important thing anyway is that Switzerland can hold the 2nd CL qualification place for the next years (as we know this will be very hard...)

P.S. This afternoon 2.30 PM ET on GolTV live Uefa-Cup Dortmund-Sochaux followed by another live Uefa-Cup match at 5.00 PM ET.

Looks like we're safe for 2005/2006, but we'll have to fight hard for 2006/2007...
