HKFA chariman Brian Leung disclosed on his blog that Richard Scudamore has contacted the HKFA about organizing the Barclays Asia Trophy in Hong Kong in late July 2011. HK newspapers were quick to point out that the three most likely teams to take part are Chelsea, Aston Villa and Sunderland.
I was kind of hoping that Sunderland could do a North American tour, but hey, if it broadens the fan base in brings in more money, I'm down.
Hong Kong's local newspaper confirmed HKFA accepted EPL's invitation to host the 2011 Barclays Asia Trophy in Hong Kong. EPL did not confirm which clubs will come but local media tips Sunderland, Chelsea and Aston Villa.
