Re: Summer Tour 2009 I suppose that it is a situation where there is a choice between the lesser or two evils...Either they money grub in Asia and around the world or continue to lose money and incur more debt by returning to established markets. As a supporter of the club, I hate to see them money grub, but I love watching what that money buys us. No matter what choice they make, someone loses and fans somewhere will complain.
Re: Summer Tour 2009 This summer tour is the opportunity for players that have been on the verge of first team football to break-in, really looking forward to it (gibson, possebon, welbeck, macheda, tosic, james, rafael, fabio... )
Re: Summer Tour 2009 Does anyone have a full list of confirmed pre-season fixtures? So far I have: 15th July -Rochdale U18s vs Manchester United Academy 17th July - AFC Fylde vs Manchester United XI 18th July - Malaysia XI vs Manchester United 20th July - Indonesia All Star vs Manchester United 24th July - FC Seoul vs Manchester United 25th July- Norwich vs Manchester United XI 26th July - Hangzhou Greentown vs Manchester United 28th July- Luton vs Manchester United XI 4th August - Altrincham vs Manchester United XI Bolded the ones where first-teamers will obviously be involved. If past seasons are anything to by, they'll also feature in a couple of matches once the tour is over. Conspicuous by it's absence so far is a marquee-type friendly at Old Trafford on the eve of the season like we've had recently. Added the list to the thread-starter and changed the thread title to incorprate all friendlies. No point in starting another. + 29th July - Boca Juniors vs Manchester United 30th July - Bayern Munchen or AC Milan vs Manchester United (Thanks Benni!)
Re: Summer Tour 2009 I made a thread that Im too lazy to search for, but we will go to the allianza and play in a [Amsterdam Cup/Emirates Cup] style preseason tournement, where there is Munich, I think Inter, some South American team, and us.
Re: Summer Tour 2009 Damn.....Valencia is kinda like my 2nd side, my La Liga team, favorite outside United. That would be a great friendly to go to.

Re: Summer Tour 2009 They were ********ed as soon as they missed the CL. If they got that CL money, they could have parlayed it into something, maybe just sell 1 of Silva/Villa. But they collapsed at season's end, and this is what they'll get.
Re: Summer Tour 2009 I think Valencia now has to sell a lot of players....Where's Joaquin...Is he still at Valencia??...Guy used to do well.......
Re: Summer Tour 2009 We should be in for Mata/Silva in a heartbeat. That kind of quality available at a reasonable price is too good to pass up.
Re: Summer Tour 2009 Ta, added it to the thread-opener. It's almost like they saw my post and hastily arranged it.
Re: Summer Tour 2009 Joaquin is still with them, and he's doing ok. That guy just didn't pan out and develop fully.
Re: Summer Tour 2009 Couple of games you've missed: Rochdale vs Manchester United XI on July 20th - http://www.rochdaleafc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10441~1658711,00.html And the Lancashire Senior Cup final, which you may or may not want to count as part of pre-season (will still be pre-season for the reserves anyway) is on Monday August 17th (7.45pm) at the County Ground in Leyland. Bolton the opposition of course.
Re: Summer Tour 2009 Oops, forgot another: United U18 vs Huddersfield Town U18 at Carrington on Saturday August 15th - http://www.htafc.com/page/AcademyNewsDetail/0,,10312~1674040,00.html
