    I GUARANTEE PLAYOFFS THIS YEAR

We have anew captain and all the kids are signed for multi year deals.

By the time they move to Brooklyn they will be bringing the cup with them!

Thrilled I stayed up for a 2-0 loss last night.

This team is playing excellent right now. A thorough demolishing of the Rangers on Saturday night that could have been even more thorough than the score indicated.

Also, John Tavares is the chosen one.

Yet the Toronto Sun ignored him when they put out their 50 best players in the NHL this year .

The lines 1-4 are just solid

    Moulson Tavares Parenteau

    Grabner Nielsen Okposo

    Martin Bailey Rolston

    Comeau/Gillies Reasoner Pandolfo

If only we could do something with DP to make room for 1 more defender because Naby and Montoya have been great

Well the typical November shit fest is over and your Islanders are killing it again. Montoya has developed as into the obvious #1 goalie but of course there is the 800lb gorilla in the room.

In Canada the Islanders are essentially hockey's running joke mostly because of the Charles Wang/Garth Snow management combo but hey for the first time in a while I'm seeing some promise and a somewhat bright future for your team. I can see Tavares winning the Art Ross next year anyway.

Not with his current line mates, not even close.

No joke. Paranteau is doing him no favors and Moulson is as streaky as they get. He'd be much better served on the 2nd line provided that Grabner learns how to not out skate his own team on every play. Kid gets caught in the corner on every break because he just runs out of ice.

Can we dump one of our 90 goaltenders for a veteran that can hang out in the the circle and feed puck to JT all day?

For Tavares to have a realistic chance at the art Ross. He'd need a quality line mate finisher and a secondary scoring threat. Hopefully nieddereiter becomes one and maybe Strome the other, but that's at least a few years away.

I still think Okposo can be that guy but they never play together.

Okposo I think will need this entire year to recover from his shoulder injury, but after that, he could be that guy. A Niedereiter-Tavares-Okposo line would have potential, but you'd still need a secondary threat to avoid other teams just focusing their entire defensive effort against one line. Still would be better than right now, when it's just one player.

There are 4 factors as to why he legitimately can

    1. Progression
    2. The Kessel effect. He's just as likely to bring his line mates up as he is to bring them down. Lupul is no where near as good as his stats show. Moulson is just as good as Lupul anyways. Parenteau is better than Connolly/Bozak too.
    3. Parity amongst the league's best players.
    4. Overall, the Islanders SHOULD improve as a team.

Not saying that he will, for me next year though he'd be a top 10 fantasy pick.

Well holy shit. They can actually win a shootout.

I think the big thing holding everyone back is Capuano. He's just no that good. If we still had Laviolette or Nolan I think things would be dramatically different.

Now that Jacques Martin is free that could be a way to go.

Hell, what's St. Al doing these days?

I see Okposo is starting to put some points up recently, but has a terrible plus minus. How has he been playing?

I haven't been able to watch as much as I want to because of the MSG/Time Warner blackout but from what I have seen he has been playing up more on the first line with JT and Moulson which has done great things for him.

Sort of. Time Warner bumped the NHL network up a couple of tiers so I got that going for me. Which is nice.

My friend was saying something about that. I'd still rather have MSG and all the games on those networks than the NHL network.
