Let me be clear: I hate the Yankees. Always have. But they should find whoever it was who didnt vote for Jeter and take away his ballot. Utterly ridiculous. All the worthless c*nts they put in the HoF and you dont think Jeter is good enough?
I'm shocked that the bastard hasn't written a "Why I didn't vote for Jeter" missive yet. There is no reason other than vanity to not vote for Jeter. Note: I own a shirt, that says "Jeter Drinks Wine Coolers" and will wear it proudly on induction day.
The only reason I can think of is "Hey, he's going to get in anyway, so let me use my vote on someone else deserving." But still, to see him NOT be an unanimous vote is ridiculous.
This actually gets debated a lot on the baseball boards. Sometimes it is some cranky old sportswriter who feels that if So and So didn't get in unanimously, then no one should. Other times it could be a voter deciding that, since a guy like Jeter is a no doubt first ballot guy who will get more than enough votes, he's going to use his vote on someone who he feels is at risk of dropping off the ballot and deserves future consideration. The fact of the matter is, getting into the Hall of Fame is like getting your driver's license. Once you're in, you're in. What you got on the test (or the ballot) doesn't matter.
If you haven't seen his Oscar-winning short documentary, go watch it now. Bring tissues, you've been warned.
5th century B.C., Greek dramatist Aeschylus: “In war, truth is the first casualty.” The rush to be the first to report on a major story probably wasn't as much of a thing back then.
I believe it was 10TV which had the campaign many years ago about "we may not be first...but we'll get it right."
So if you ask your wife what's wrong and she says "nothing" and "everything is fine", on a scale of 1 to 10 how much trouble are you in?
Hating on the NFL MVP trophy because it looks like a car logo? That's cool. We've been there too. Realized I never knew what the NFL MVP trophy looked liked but they gotta do better than this regional recognition Toyotathon shit https://t.co/iZhY9SkLJP— 🐿️✨America Is Musty✨🐿️ (@DragonflyJonez) February 2, 2020

Cross posting from the NSR Book Thread but thought a few others might want to read this as it relates to the Crew and might not travel to the NSR side of the house much. Just finished Chill Factor. Fun book about the history of the Chill but more importantly the history of sports in Columbus in the 90s. Lots of interesting intersections with the Crew's timeline and Hunt's involvement in Columbus. Paitson quotes Lamar at saying the Chill's success was what convinced him to put an MLS franchise in Columbus. The book gets a little repetitive but it's a quick read...go check it out. Oh and I know the guy on the cover...so that makes me kinda famous...right? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00THMCG90/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1
