From a profile by Arch Bell over at American Soccer Now: "I have always wanted the national team to call me. I even tried to contact them. I have videos of myself that I sent but I have never had a response, but I’ve always wanted to play with them,” added Saltos." Now, I have no idea who at the USSF Saltos contacted, but this is interesting nonetheless. He's an '03. Think that comment is entirely off base. I think our ID scouts are on the whole really good at their jobs. If there is a problem, it's that there isn't enough of them...but obviously at some point the juice isn't worth the squeeze and funds are better used elsewhere. It's super easy to morning quarterback individual player selections of course. The NFL probably spends $100mil a year on scouting and are still picking guys that are out of the league in a year by the second round of the draft. That is to say, you have to judge talent evaluation in the marco. I think YNT player selection has been above par for years now...a long way better than a decade ago.
Guessing this is for the ‘07s, to help support the ‘06s in preparation for next year’s CONCACAF U-17 Championship (and hopefully World Cup): https://twitter.com/thundering165/status/1554830610266435588?s=21&t=479abN_eMaCvxJHhFcdgtA
With what looks like 3 separate friendly tournaments (Revelations Cup, Vaclav Jezek, and Slovenia Nations Cup, all with possibly different age limits) in the next month, it will be interesting to see the different team selections.
