you don't actually believe any of this do you? You start off with something that is point blank wrong, making the rest of your post meaningless. If Obama and his administration hadn't intervened and had done nothing, we'd be at 20+% unemployment right now.
Absolutely, though I'm not talking about jobs directly hired/saved because of the Stimulus. Without the bailouts and the stimulus where would GDP be right now? Without the financial bailout when would have we hit rock bottom as we bled out?
And seeing as you're so cocksure of yourself, I'm sure you have data to show and prove this, correct? Please find anything that I start off with that is "point blank wrong". The chart was the one published by the Obama administration themselves describing why the stimulus was a good idea. The points represent the actual unemployment rates that have occurred since then on a monthly basis. The Obama chart shows that they predicted that unemployment with no stimulus plan would peak around 9% in Q2 2010. And you're saying that would be 20% right now. So not only are you calling me an idiot, you're calling the Obama administration idiots and probably Obama himself (he hired everyone and is the leader in his economic recovery team after all) because they underestimated the potential unemployment per you by 55% (20 to 9). To make such a large and drastic error per you makes me question the effectiveness of his economic team since it's clear from your posts that you know so much more than any of them. Who is it in Obama's economic team you think is so stupid to make such a large and egregious error? Give the man a break though appoo, I didn't realize you belonged to the teabaggers. The guy's had a rough year, but you should be light on him and not call him an idiot for underestimating unemployment by 55% per you and your great expertise on the subject of economic recovery as a random anonymous poster on an internet message board discussing soccer.
Yes, Obama and his administration acted like complete morons and idiots when they said the Stimulus would stop unemployment at 8% or whatever it was. And the evidence I have is what was going on BEFORE the Bailouts/Stimulus. If you did nothing, then nothing would have changed. Which meant that trend would have continued. This recession wasn't a part of a normal cycle. It was almost inflicted upon us.
Best thing I want to hear come 9:00 ET? "Barack Obama has decided to reinstate the tradition of delivering the SOTU by letter to Congress. We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming."
Cato's 10 points for the SOTU. Somehow I think they get like zero of them. I'd take any one of them. 1. Abandon Obamacare 2. Forget Cap and Trade 3. Reject the Card Check Bill 4. Withdraw from Iraq and Afghanistan 5. Legalize Drugs 6. Scrap the tax code and replace with a flat tax 7. Expand free trade and immigration 8. Stop the bailouts 9. Cut spending 10. Cut spending BONUS - Cut spending
I have ABC on and Diane Sawyer has already said Obama has to "make the speech of his life." NO! he doesn't.
Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan is the official designated not to be present for the address in case of a tragedy.
Don't like the chatter, but I think the CNN picture is better. EDIT - actually MSNBC sound seems to be better.
Well, he's ignoring health care apparently (per NBC), so why not talk about spending a bunch of money to not educate kids!
Part of the problem is they don't allow tifo. The capitol security goons get all over your ass if you try bring in a banner or flag. Forget streamers.
