The episode with the Gorn was fantastic, immediately one of my favorites of any series. Top 20 say. Totally dug the combination of things going on, and the way they took a group that was introduced in the 60s and became something of a meme later on and made them scary as hell is impressive.

The fairytale episode was my favorite so far. I'm giddy every Thursday now just to see what new great thing the Strange New Worlds folks are going to bring us.

There are unfortunately only two new episodes left this season. :(

I think they're aiming to do 5 seasons. Season 2 is already in production and should debut around the same time next year. Some guy named Paul Wesley comes onto the show next season in the role of James T. Kirk.

From what I've gathered, they want to have an episode of at least 1 Star Trek show releasing every week of the year with most likely 5 shows in rotation. Discovery and Picard are coming up on their last seasons, but they've announced Section 31, Starfleet Academy, and a limited series called Ceti Alpha V that's supposed to dig into the Wrath of Khan storyline from Khan's perspective.

Nothing against Paul Wesley (I'm actually not that familiar with him), but couldn't William Shatner have reprised his role as James T. Kirk instead?

With Benedict Cumberbatch reprising his role as Khan from the movie?

They're going with young Kirk before he grows into the role of Captain in TOS.

I have no idea on Khan, that's something that's just recently been added back in after being on hiatus for a while. The original plan back in 2018 was a 3 night miniseries that covers the time between the TOS episode where he's exiled to Ceti Alpha V to his reappearance in Star Trek II. It may get switched to being a podcast instead.

The one thing that's most rumored but never been mentioned as a reality is something akin to Short Treks, but based on legacy characters and being in the 45-90 minute range with a working title of "Tales of the Federation." There's also talk of films within worlds of the current Paramount+ shows, mostly streaming exclusive but potentially some theater releases as well.

Wait, the Gorn are like Xenomorphs in this new version? :ROFLMAO:

I liked Hemmer, surprised they got rid of him after just nine episodes.

Hemmer felt like the new Spock/Data, but since they have Spock on this I guess they felt he was expendable.

He didn't really remind me much of Spock or Data?
I would say more like Dr. Phlox for me.

I was just thinking the less emotional type of character. More curmudgeonly than those two, but still somewhere in that ilk.

Oh boy, the captain of the U.S.S. Farragut was on screen and it's a doozy of a final episode reveal.

I posted this too soon. There was a voice only reveal that was great as well.

Here's a peak at a new section of the Enterprise they've built for Season 2.

Season 2 of Strange New Worlds will have a crossover episode with Lower Decks.

Also finally watching TOS and loving it. I first saw "Balance of Terror" on SNW, weird seeing it that way with TOS. Weird but fun

I bought the whole TOS set on Amazon on Prime Day for like $40 and I'm rewatching through it now. SNW is already in 2nd place for me among all Star Trek shows.

SNW definitely learned from some of the mistakes Discovery made. Primarily about giving the entire crew enough air-time and story/plot lines.
And I mostly loved the first season. Great cast (definitely the greatest ensemble of the newer shows), some good episodes.
My caveats are smaller stuff but things that still take me out of the experience. Like 23rd century individuals using slang/vernacular/expressions of the 20th/21st century. e.g. when Cap Pike made the stationwagon reference. It just doesn't work and it's those tiny moments that take me out of the experience (briefly).

Episodes 1 & 2 of season 1 are airing on CBS tonight. This is such a strange, wonderful feeling to see this on network TV.
