Cool video of the installation of the grass and bleachers under construction: http://gooddaysacramento.cbslocal.com/video/10212944-new-sac-republic-fc-field/
Except it isn't the largest stadium in the league. But still glad to see how excited the caffeinated-juiced up anchors are for SacRFC.
Yeah - I think someone had told her the 80x120 size of the pitch being the largest but she misunderstood.
It's nice to see the media excited about a minor league soccer team. But then again they have drawn really well so far and have made themselves new worthy.
If you ever wondered what the field would like like from the monorail, here you go http://instagram.com/p/o1hbTrLp5Z/
So pumped. Can't wait for June 20th! I'm attending a wedding this weekend and was out of town for the match vs Galaxy II so it will be over a month since I've gone to a game.
Funny part is, I believe that is almost the same exact layout the old Cal Expo Amphitheatre had, when the CEA was on that same exact spot on the Cal Expo campus. Everything old is new again.
Exciting! Has anyone seen pics of seat backs for the premier midfield seating? So far all I've seen is bleachers with no seat backs.
How ironic. It looks like the first game at Bonney won't have American football lines on the field, but Aussie football lines: Of course, the rugby game is the day after the Rapids game.
Rugby and Aussie football are not the same sports and the fields look nothing alike. The shapes aren't even the same, with rugby featuring a rectangle similar to soccer and Aussie rules being played on a massive oval which is the same size as a cricket pitch. Apologies if that comes across as touchy, but it really bugs me as a rugby fan that two sports nothing alike are frequently confused.
I was there today. I may be wrong, but it looks like bench seating across the entire stands. This may be due to time constraints. For completion, IMO, they are seriously up against a wall with the first game being Friday night. Granted, the field is in and ready to go. All they need to do is finish the stands. The other stuff can be a work in progress.
