Don't know about squirrels, but I've seen a few donkeys on the field in my time watching Reading.

On a serious note, the real English Squrrel, the Red Squrrel is extremely rare now a days thanks to that damn American Grey Squrrel. So theres still no Englishman on the blood pitch.

The Dutch channel which showed the game took the opportunity to show more "animals in sport" clips, funny stuff. Especially liked the bird getting killed in the baseball match, and one getting shredded by a motorcycle.

From THIS angle, yes. But you obviously haven't seen that sideline angle where, if you interpret FIFA's 2003 explaination of the rule, the rodent was clearly in an onside position. :D

I won't even speculate as to why that little guy kept wanting to stay near Lehman's goal. ;)

It's classic that squirrel has gotten the attention it has.

I couldn't stop laughing from the commentary.

ESPNNews in the U.S. had great fun with it.

Gotta love how a game worth so much financially gets delayed by a stupid squirrel.

Would have been hilarious if the ball would have bounced on the squirrel and entered the goal. Technically, the squirrel would have scored.. But then it would be dead:p

That's the rarely-seen Kanu squirrel. He'd miss from there.

I'm surprised the referree didn't call a foul on him ;)

I remember Villarreal crossed the ball on the right, where the squirrel was, and he ran like the dickens to the end line. :D
