I really don't like him as a commentator. Defaults to the blood and thunder bullshit, rarely offers any real insight.
Even though I’m still fond of him for being part of our Vaunted back four, I kind of agree. He doesn’t offer that much. In fact, After they lost video for several minutes and then regained it with the English world feed, I was thinking to myself how I liked Andy Townsend better.
After a tremendously up beat and positive performance on the pitch, no surprise that we got the same from Mikel’s post match presser… https://www.arsenal.com/news/every-word-mikels-post-tottenham-presser
Just finished watching the game. This team is good. The game was old men against boys, and the boys made the old men cry.
The celebration police nonsense is utter garbage. We weren't the only team this match day to celebrate a derby win but yet its over the top because its us?
Martin O is certainly becoming one of the best midfielders in europe. Kind of vindicates that strategy of getting excess Madrid talent
The team is on track for 100 points which is unlikely - there is bound to be some reversion and I still expect City to go on a run sooner or later. You think around 88 points would be enough to win the league - so that is 'only' 2 PPG from here on. Obviously the best opportunity since Wenger messed up 15-16
Arteta has just said that he thinks 90 points will be enough !!! Guess it all rests on the two games against City and the one against ManU
In Richarlison's comments he griped about Ramsdale celebrating in front of Spurs' fans. Uh, minus one section that happened to be on the other end of the pitch, the whole venue was Spurs fans. Are you (Richarlison) expecting your rivals to not celebrate when they beat you, cause I'm pretty sure I've seen you celebrate goals and wins in front of other fans.
On replay I really liked Eddie's match in this one. He tracked back well and made several key tackles and challenges. His movements and runs helped our attack to keep them on their heels all match. And his touches are getting really smart and creative - his first touch right after 58' to create space for a shot was particularly notable. In summary - we complained about Jesus' lack of finishing before his injury, while recognizing he was doing everything else on the pitch incredibly well. By the same measure, Eddie's play has been very similar, which has helped maintain our attack or even to improve it in some ways.
Told VAR could have looked at the Richarlison incident at the end and sent him off. Twice put his hand to Ramsdale’s face. Looks set to avoid any action. Ref report went in today. Spurs facing heavy fine. #AFC— Daniel Cutts (@Journo_Slash) January 16, 2023
I don't agree with this at all, and the stats bear it out. Jesus created 22 chances in 1,225 minutes, or 1 every 55 minutes. Nketiah has created 3 in 499 minutes, 1 every 166 minutes. Jesus is literally 3 times the creative attacking force that Nketiah is. Nketiah also isn't anywhere near as strong as Jesus, and loses a ton of duels as a result. He wins about half as many as Jesus, which seriously limits our attacking options. He lost fully 2/3 yesterday, and his aerial duel win percentage this season is 18%. That's not to say that Nketiah is useless or anything. He defends pretty well and gets into scoring positions at roughly the same rate as Jesus. But the drop-off in other parts of attack is enormous.
I appreciate and enjoy the dialog here. Thanks for sharing the detailed stats. I didn't review any of the goal contributions or defensive stats by either player when I made my assessment, just stated general observations how well the attack is flowing with Eddie as the current starter compared to how worried the team would perform without Jesus. (For context, if we had Laca back in the team and playing, the attack and defense would not be moving in the same direction it is now.) As an obvious back-up, I'm just trying to state I'm very pleased with Eddie's production as the team's performance drop-off has been much less than I expected without Jesus. If I'm guilty of being too aggrandizing for Eddie. I'll owe up to that right now.
Hmmm, that's not how I interpreted his remarks in the presser linked above. It was more along the lines of "it will take at least 90 points."
Met police confirm a man has been charged with assaulting Aaron Ramsdale after NLD Joseph Watts, 35, of Hackney is due to appear at Highbury Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 17 February.— Daniel Matthews (@_DanMatthews_) January 17, 2023
Wow, he sure looked like a 16YO twerp to me. Definitely not 35YO. So this is now a quantum level more pathetic at 35 compared to 16.
Like all of you, I've heard & read quite a few reports of the match and one word that seems to be brought up more after this match than others is: IDENTITY. Hmm, I wonder if that might have anything to do with the pictures/videos of how we Arsenlised the away dressing room at the Toilet?
If City, United, or Newcastle don’t drop another point for the rest of the season, they would finish with 99, 98, and 95 points, respectively. Since they all play each other at least one more time, only one of them could accomplish this feat and it’s not United or Newcastle, so 90 points should get Arsenal 1st or 2nd.
