Good to see a team from Algarve make it back up. It can only be seen as a positive for Portuguese futebol. They were helped by a few Porto loanees aswell, Andre Castro, Stephane, Ukra and Steven Vitoria. FCP had a hand in both the 1st and 2nd division titles.

I may be partaking in some volunteer work at a guest lodge near Olhao in December/January, and will probably try to catch some of Olhanense's matches.
Anyone from this approximate region here?:)

You guys remember Zequinha, the 18 year old strike from the U-20 a couple years ago. Well Olhanense picked him up and he scored a beauty from outside the box in their win.

He also had a beautiful trivela cruz to get the 2nd goal. He looks like he really developed since that debacle, since his suspension.

Two thirds of the Olhanense squad are Portuguese. That's only surpassed by Rio Ave at 70.8%. Here's the run down for the 09/10 season.

    Rio Ave 70.8%
    Olhanense 66.7%
    Pacos 65.5%
    Leixoes 63.0%
    Setubal 62.5%
    SCP 62.5%
    Academica 60.0%
    V. Guimaraes 53.3%
    U. Leiria 43.8%
    Belenenses 40.0%
    Maritimo 35.5%
    SLB 35.0%
    FCP 33.3%
    Braga 32.3%
    Naval 32.0%
    Nacional 29.2%

Half the teams above 50% and half below. Ai, meu deus!

Got this from zerozero.pt They still have Liedson listed as a Brazilian. Well, it isn't September, yet.

When I was looking at Olhanense squad last year, I was wondering how they were going to react and cope once they were promoted. They had various key players that were older and might not be able to handle the first division, but I must credit them. They have made some very good signings and pickups.

I will be rooting for them. Someone has to due good by the Algarve.

Interesting interview with Jorge Costa, Olhanense coach.

    Hello to everybody from Greece...
As the name of Jorje Costa is now at the spot light for my favourite team Paok Salonica, could anyone tell me what they think of him? Is he any good?
    Thanks in advance
