Apparently, he's got some kind of medical condition that prevents him from serving as a vet's support dog, so he's going to be a regular dog for someone.
I've never been a support dog (or a regular dog, for that matter), but I imagine that the latter is a lot more fun than the former. Spike gets to play, but he's still had a great upbringing.
I can't imagine the life of a support dog is all that ruff (see what I did there?). Dogs treated well love unconditionally and people that rely on a support dog love their companion unconditionally. I've seen alot of support dogs and their lives seem pretty good.
