not really since that 5 800 000 would have been used as a part of the original transfer fee. However, the 7m used to buy Dempsey probably could have easily paid it.
Reflecting a bit, as disappointing as today ultimately was, we had a very productive window overall. (I guess I am not used to signing anybody relevant before the last day.)
For a club that's not in the Champions League, I'm rather impressed by the players we did bring in: France's captain Ajax's captain A 23-goal scorer (all comps) from last season An 18-goal scorer (all comps) from last season A player who created 10 goals (3 goals, 7 assists) in 17 appearances last season A player who was fouled 66 times in 33 league appearances last year (granted we suck at set pieces) Trying to find a silver lining. This has me somewhat content with the window, though.
We are so much better off now I can't even say. To me all we really needed was Lloris and now we can actually say we have a top choir world number one at the back. Wonderful.
your not counting his transfer fee as well i think Levy did all he could within reason but it sounds like the third party was purposely trying to kill this hoping Moutinho's value rises, which is stupid b/c i dont see it going any higher after the euros
Everyone is forgetting something about Dempsey though. A big reason he was so effective last year was because of Dembele. The two are reunited and perhaps can keep that partnership going, i bet that was exactly what AVB was thinking
I didn't get to see Fulham at all last year, but from reading about Dembele, this was my impression. Thus, I hinted at it in my recap. So, I agree and do see the potential. But, I still wonder about the lineup.
i agree, i think the most obvious player to drop with Dempsey in is Lennon. Lennon gives us speed but Dempsey might give goals. It's a good tradeoff tho when the game needs to change. I see our new lineup being (4-3-3): ----Dempsey-------Adebayor---------Bale---- ------------Dembele---------Sigurdsson------- ----------------------Sandro-------------------- Benoit-----Vertonghen----Gallas------Walker -----------------------Lloris--------------------- * Sandro might blossom with this lineup, it plays much more to his strengths * All 3 forwards are scoring threats. Whereas Lennon was much more of a crosser. This keeps the ball on the ground and gets Sig in the attack with his feet

Perhaps I’m still cranky, but to me we let two world class players leave (three if you count King) and brought in one. This squad looks like a team built for top six, not top four.
So, I haven't really seen Lloris play. Do you guys really think Friedel is going to be benched immediately and we'll never see him again? That seems to be the consensus here, which I find surprising because Friedel has not been bad at all.
Concurred. you don't spend that kind of money on the french captain and one of the 10 best keepers on the world to bench him behind an octagenerial Ohioan.
Levy certainly seemed to spend a lot of time & effort finding a solution to a problem we don't have. Not quite rearranging deck chairs on The Titanic; yet.
And AVB, who left Chelshite and then they won the CL. I'm not impressed so far with how we're playing. This squad is fantastic and we're being made to look a bit shit against WBA and Naaaaarch, which just isn't good enough.
Hulk had just been sold for 40m. With that $, I guess that means Porto can keep Moutinho for at least a season or 2 more.
meh, i think that has nothing to do with Moutinho. He will leave in the next 6-12 months regardless of what happens to the squad around him. I can't believe that idiot Hulk went to Russia though, what a great way to slow down you career and development by taking a step backwards
sorry to divert from the topic at hand (what the hell, though, the window's closed), but in a potentially related point - are you going to the US/jamaica qualifier at CCS next week, josh?
no worries, keith. granted, we're not very good. but concacaf is still crap. even if we leave it later than usual (which we probably will), i can't see us finishing outside the top 3 from this region. of course, i've been wrong before.
