Should've left 1-2 seasons ago when every big team was interested but his fee was too high. Will never happen, but I really want to see him managed by Klopp..
then what was Sonny's role...it's a rhetorical question on my part and my complaint. They had sonny playing as what? like Eriksen would have?
yep v Preston - Kane was rested, didn't even play. Stellini had Sonny as lone striker. He had room, created his own as well, played centrally and carried the team on his shoulders. Which again showed he can be moved around tactically. He and Perisic were outstanding that game. But v Leicester the whole team was arse and Son after looking back on track for 3 matches suddenly lost his touch and football IQ again.
It's a riddle. How to set up Kuluševski, Son, Kane and Perišić so they help each other, and not screw everything up. Under the constraints of a 3 man back line.
100% Yet still, they are in Rd 16 CL, FA Cup and sit 5th in the Premier League. Yet they've never really clicked this season
It's not easy to fit players into a system. Take one of the aforementioned players out (okay, not Kane), and it would improve results. Kuluševski isn't a bad player, but do Tottenham even need a playmaker on the wing? Kane has playmaking abilities himself. Perišić is a good crosser, but Tottenham have played well in the past without a fantastic crosser. We'd all like to see Son do well. But it requires changes I haven't seen Conte do, outside of cups.
I just checked the heat maps of them for that preston game...and I do now recall that sonny was the striker...i think
Son was upfront because Kane was rested in that match. So he played more like a striker and never had to track back.
Scored right after getting off the bench. Happy + sad at the same time. Hopefully he doesnt become a super sub.
Sometimes it is necessary to also just let the player rest a bit. Here's a Celtic example: Hatate, one of the better players, had a few games he was a bit quiet. Manager benched him, then he got on, and scored twice. The next game (yesterday), he also scored twice. Anyway, it's a great outcome today. Tottenham won, Son scored and Newcastle had a screw-up yesterday. I must admit I was sceptical of Davies as a wing back in a 3-4-3. But, it worked okay. I'll go look at the highlights (I was out for a drink).
Scored just before Perisic also came on. It's as if he said... "Oh shoot, I better score before Perisic is all up in my space...."
