Santiago Sosa will be the clubs sixth Argentine on the Atlanta roster and he will play in his customary holding midfield position. Sosa made his big-league debut against Racing Club in a Copa Libertadores match in 2018 and later went on to make his Argentine league debut that same season against Lanus. https://us.bolavip.com/soccer/who-is-santiago-sosa-20210212-0017.html
A solid holding mid is something we've been missing since Nagbe left. There's a reason Darlington Nagbe has an MLS Cup with three different teams (is there any other player with that kind of pedigree in MLS history?). I'm looking forward to watching Sosa play.
His middle name is Roberthorry Actually, that's under-rating him. Horry was great, but he wasn't one of The Difference Makers throughout the season. Nagbe may be the best holding mid in MLS history. Seriously, tho, was it you who told the story of the kids' camp where Parkhurst and Larentowicz were trying to get some of the kids to understand just how good Nagbe is? As am I. Happy to see some signings. I can't remember all the names that have been associated with United since 2019 or so, and how many decided to go elsewhere or stay where they were. Still wondering what happened to Almendra...
I'm thinking Yoss told that story, and I believe Almendra is playing in Argentina for the forseeable future. As for Sosa, I'm going to temper my expectations right now but I'm hopeful. Not to disparage the guys on the roster right now but none of them play the role in the fashion needed by Atlanta. If you can't match Nagbe's poise on the ball then you had better be faster in moving it forward and releasing it. Remedi and Adams simply coughed it up too often.
Yep. I wish he wasn't such a homebody- we might still have him. And it probably was Yoss who told the tale.
