Dems shouldn't feel all bad: Kerry got some 3 million more votes yesterday than the shrub did in 2000. Until yesterday, shrub 2000 was the highest runner-up vote-getter. In 1996, Clinton beat Dole by over 8 million votes, and Clinton beat Bush Sr by 4.5 million votes back in 92. Reagan got more votes in 1984 than Bush did in 2004. This was the 3rd closest races since 1960 (2000 and 1976).
Damn. Wrong on the Reagan comment getting more votes. I must have been looking at totals w/o Ohio. Or something.
If finishing second actually counted for shit, then yeah...i woudn't feel that bad. But, things being how they are...I'm absolutely shattered.
