    Greetings,

I'm writing a movie that takes place in Mexico during the early 90's.

A big scene that I want to write involves a big crowd riot/fight during a soccer game.

I must admit that I don't know the first thing about soccer so my questions are:

    1) Which side of the stadium do soccer fans usually sit on when they are there for the home team?

    2) What were, if any, some of the big rivalries during the early 90's in Mexico? Specifically between smaller soccer teams.

    3) Have any of you been involved in soccer riots? ONLY during the early 90's.

    4) Remember early 90's...what were some popular "curses" fans would say to teams they hated?

I'd love to hear your war stories, ideas, and thoughts. This would be a great chance for you to spin an idea that would be in a movie.

This is the REAL DEAL so thanks for the help.

When I'm done writing the scene I'll post it on here and you guys can tell me what you think.

Are you in Los Angeles. If so i would like to volunteer as an Extra for the Riot Scene. I have previously appeared in Student Films and Home made amature porn some of which can be found in Kazaa.

i would like to be shown burning a Club America flag.

Fear Not ia am very Soccer savvy :)

Usually in the section right behind the Goalkeeper.. Some teams assign the Supporter groups special sections so it varies.

The biggest Rivalry in Mexico is between Chivas and America the two most popular Clubs. These however are Big Clubs..

    :( No...

    4) Remember early 90's...what were some popular "curses" fans would say to teams they hated?

All hatred is allways aimed at Club America..

The Mexican League is one of the safest in the Americas and you will find very little instances of soccer riots happening in Mexico. These things are more likely to happen in places like Argentina and Uruguay. There has been Violence in Mexican stadiums but not to an extant that a full out Riot broke out.. However you can allways make one up, the Simpsons did it involving a match between Mexico and Portugal, hehe good stuff..

An all out riot as you plan to write doesn't happen very often in the world of soccer since about the early to mid-eighties, and I can't recall ever hearing of a riot in Mexico.

As a fellow screenplay writer, I think you are barking up the wrong tree here, because you are buying heavily into an American cliche about this sport.

Might as well have a gay supporting character who only wears pink, talks in a hugely exaggerated lisp, and likes to attack little boys in the locker room with unprotected sex.

I'm not trying to make fun, I'm just pointing out how bad cliched situations or characters can be in a film.

Either keep it to a small fight between a few people, or cut the scene.

As for rivalries in Mexico, others will have to help you out there, as my education on Mexican football is very limited.

Thanks guys for all the help so far. Yes, I will be keeping the fight scene between only a small group of characters. I was just interested to know if anyone had some good stories I could draw upon. The rivalry though will be between two small local soccer leagues in Mexico. Any info on these types of local groups would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

p.s. The gay child molester character sounds pretty original to me. Have you seen L.I.E.?
