Found this article at the CNNSI site. My apologies if it has been posted previously. Thought it was a good article and after reading it I have even more respect for Ruiz now. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/soccer/us/news/2002/09/05/ruiz_mls_sa/

Re: Re: Soccer America on Ruiz I can't wait for the Divin' Donovan / Airial Antics Graziani Flop-a-thon! Topper
it makes me very happy to see people like ruiz, who feel priveleged to play the game they love. while he's not making david beckham type money, i'm sure it's much more than he could have made in guatamala and it doesn't seem to have gone to his head. i look at him and then look at the likes of those scum bags, lee bowyer, woodgate, jody morris and some of those other thugs and it makes me sad. it seems that tons of money too early on in your career makes you think you are invincible/untouchable (unfortunately confirmed by the increasingly americanised court system in england). personally i hope the two poor students who were attacked get significant sums of money from bowyer and woodgate. i'm ashamed that they are in the england team, they should never be allowed to play. congratulations to fish, best of luck to him in the future (i hope he can bring us a couple of cups before moving on, as he deserves to )
"You need to come to this league with the desire to succeed. ... If some players who came here did not succeed, maybe it was because they didn't have the desire to wake up every morning and work and work and work." - Ruiz NICE!
