Huh.....i thought it wasn't a person until AFTER birth....there goes that theory. Anytime you guys wanna repeal roe v. wade, that would be cool.
Until you get some girl pregnant, Manny, in which case you'd be off to Planned Parenthood quicker than you could type hypocrite. By the way, if life begins at conception, what's the point of these pictures?
It's not smiling you doughnut, it's got wind. Even non-persons such as fetuses (fetusi?) occasionally have to expel gas. Like those mud-holes in Iceland, only cuter.
Re: Re: smiling from the womb I'm not a big Roe v Wade fan but don't your guys control all three branches of government right now?
Re: Re: Re: smiling from the womb Excellent point Danwoods. At least the democrats have the guts to be pro-choice. I've had it to here with Republicans running on the pro-life position and then doing less than nothing about the issue. Pure posturing on the part of Republicans.
I'm pro-life when i don't have to worry about food and shelter. I'm pro-early-death when i am worry about that. Why watch your kids suffer? That's the thing the filthy rich republicans would never understand - some basic common sense.
Re: Re: Re: Re: smiling from the womb The Republicans posture as pro-life because it scores points with the religious right. They can't actually do anything about it (except cut funding for health programs for poor women around the world) because they would lose whatever sliver of the women's vote they've managed to scrounge up.
This is true to a point. I mean what if Bill Clinton's poor, single mother would have had an abortion because her baby was going to grow up rural poor in Arkansas? Who would've been 42? In many cultures around the world don't mothers abandon children they're unable to take care of or feed? Of course some would argue those aren't Christian societies. But this isn't supposed to be a Christian country.
GB senior would have gone another 4 years. What a dynasty that would have been.... I can kind of understand the need for "choice" but I think it's a stretch to say "I was gonna have a kid but I couldn't afford to dress it in Nike's so I did it a favor and terminated it's life." Or even the less extreme situation where the kid may have been forced to live below middle class. I'm glad my parents didn't do that for me.
They had coat hangers in Arkansas way before 1973. After that they quit using them. That's how the arguement goes right?
That's exactly how the argument goes. Abortion was around along time before R v. W. Making them legal only helps women get the proper medical treatment and actually saves lives. The far right doesn't want women to have abortions, but they also don't want to have to pay for the Welfare rolls these women will join if they have kids. Which is it?
When he said "was abortion available," I went ahead and assumed he meant legal abortions provided by legitimate doctors. Silly me.
Mike, don't you believe human life begins at conception? If so, why do you feel the need to show these pictures? Doesn't that weaken your argument? I'm more than wiling to err on the side of human life, but let's at least have an honest discussion.
