I'm here with you, choosing this one over GCam/Miazga. Cmon Yedlin, bomb forward.

I've invested too many saturday mornings on Sunderland to jump ship now.

not much happened. the home team had the better chances. yedlin was ok - although he's backing up a ton when defending 1 on 1

    First half review:

    - little to no impact on the game, so far. Barely been on the ball.
    - seems to be finding his comfort level getting forward, making better runs than earlier in the year.
    - one moment with ball in space driving forward at full speed...but again lacked quality to do anything with it. Lost it.
    - defensive work is good as always. No issues there.
    - it is weird to see the high percent of times his man gets off an uncontested cross. I've resisted critiquing him on this this year, but I would like to see him do better there. Way too soft, too many times.

Nice throw ins if that is a bonus.

I watch the quality on this particular sunderland lineup, and honestly it's not bad. Good organization and a reasonable threat going forward. It's amazing what a good coach can do with a little time. It's not pretty, but it's not the worst stuff ever.

DY has been solid if unspectacular.

    Good block kid.

Kazri....I'm not sure about this guy. A lot of bad with some good.

Is this Villa as bad as Feihaber's Derby team? They're the worst I can remember recently.

Kirchoff is a serious player. To me, he's been the difference for this teams recent resurgence.

Sunderland threw O'Shea on and went with 5 in the back. Bertrand got the ball 30 yards out around the corner of the box, Yedlin went to close him down, positions himself to cut out any shot or pass towards the 6. Saints player makes an overlapping run, Yedlin is in a 2v1 with no support, and Bertrand slips a pass to set up the low cross assist.

    2nd half review:

    - even less impact this half. Not his fault, just the way the game flowed.

    - hands down best moment for DY was in the 91' when he takes the ball in his own half, jukes a few people. Showed great explosion, very dangerous........but...........gave the ball away at the end. Was a tad unlucky on that but still.

    - overall decent game, little impact, worked hard.

    Nice comments from roker report

    DeAndre Yedlin– 7

Great defensive performance from Yedlin and an all round big effort from the American.

Sky rated Yedlin a 7 (which is actually kind of low, they gave out several 8s and one 9 to kirchoff, but three 6s too), but mentioned him only once in their summary, which was to say that there were appeals for a handball on him.

I mentioned elsewhere (main Yedlin thread) that BBC proclaimed him MotM.

I will never understand going to a back 5 late in a game to bunker. For every time it doesn't lead to a goal it seems 3 go in.
