returned to Philly last weekend for my bachelor party. i'm walking down the street wearing a celtic shirt after watching the game vs. st johnstone in the morning and a group of guys stopped and asked if celtic won. they also asked if i was going to some union games this year. i was only able to say, "well i just moved to the DC area" when i started getting booed. i just rolled my eyes and continued, "so i'm going to come up for as many games as possible, I'm not a United fan all of a sudden". any time you get booed in philadelphia for anything, you know it's officially arrived
If I was going to pay attention to the Rowdies I might call but reality is Rowdies are a non story in Tampa. I mean NO ONE has ever mentioned them being back or anything...
I went to Tilted Kilt today in my TFC jersey. The one time i wasnt looking at all the female servers with their boobs popping out I seen a guy wearing a Galaxy jersey on. I waved and got back to oogling @ all the breasts
Not MLS but at my new [second] job, one of my bosses wears a Liverpool jersey all the time. He seemed quite surprised that I was a fan of MLS and EPL and proceeded to quiz me all about the game and my teams lol.
Stopped at Target on my way home, and the gentleman in front of me in line had a Philadelphia Union knit cap on. It's one thing to see a jersey or jacket at a team event or viewing party, but when you start to see random sightings throughout town (or when the newspaper dedicates TWO whole pages to the team in the sports section of today's issue), then you know MLS has arrived in Philadelphia.
Same thing today in the Dispatch, 2 page full color spread on The Crew, MLS teams and the season ahead along with a human interest on Guille and how much he loves C-bus.
either Red Bull is catching on with the hipster crowd or (more likely) it has become ironic to wear Red Bull jerseys
Add PBR A fixed gear bike and some indie music and you've the most ironic tailgate of all time. ripping on euro-posers and their ignorant statements no worries to be honest I don't watch much of europe, I find it boring.
Saw a guy with a DCU jersey in a bar in St. Augustine, FL. First MLS apparel sighting I can remember in this town...ever. I would have asked him about it, but he appeared to be on a date of some kind, which would make his clothing choice especially odd.
