It would be interesting to see...nba 1st tier stars in the twilight of their careers try to promote basketball and help young euro players.

    Nah these are NBA players.

Those guys were great, but being NBA players they are too selfish to do something like that.

Hristo made a big difference but there's more Lothars than Hristos

Basketball is a lot more developed in Europe than soccer is here. Magic Johnson did play a season in Sweden.

I agree that Hristo has come into MLS with the right attitude and approach, but how many games has he missed due to injuries? The older one gets, the longer it takes to come back from injuries, no matter what sport you play.

    Magic is a great player..

Magic was a different player than those mentioned in the title. It greatly accepted that Magic and Bird built today's NBA, and Jordan carried to new heights.

Theres no reason for them to go over there. They are already Millionaires(more than ANY soccer player will ever be) so they dont need the money. And they can retire and get a broadcast or front office job that will pay them way more than they would get in Europe. The reason players usually come to MLS is cause they always wanted to play here and live in the USA for a while to see how it is. Most people from USA dont have those same dreams to go abroad to play and live somewhere else. If they do its usually a city cross country.

    hmm...

I don't think that's what Olekicker means. I think he's referring to those NBA players helping export the game, Or least thats what I was referring to.

CrewDust has got it right. The comparison between European basketball and US soccer is not apt. US b-ball pro teams are already looking increasingly to Europe to recruit guys that play "a fundamentally sound game" (i.e., can pass and hit a 15 footer consistently, from day one--wonder if that's the influence of soccer on basketball over there?).
