American Stuart Holden signs for The Wednesday! http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/spor...ednesday_s_delight_at_securing_Stuart_Holden/ He will play today! http://espnfc.com/us/en/preview/344336/preview.html?soccernet=true&cc=5901
just a loan ... but it could be huge for the run in. with antonio out, they'll need productivity from somewhere in the midfield. perhaps stu can provide it. i mean, stevie aaard isn't going to be creating opportunities for himself, is he?
Stolen from a thread(rate Olli & Holden) I started over @ Owlsalive.com: Both of them excellent... I dunno if there was a bit of extra enthusiasm because they wanted to impress at a new club but they were outstanding today, the pair on em. Olli is as s trong as chuff...he must be the strongest player we've had in absolutely ages...a monster and no one got him off the ball...a real powerhouse. Holden was the best player on the pitch (though Madine was also up there) up to being subbed IMO. Strong, physical and skilful...loved watching him. Let's just hope this isn't a one off because they're a great pair and and cracking combo in that engine room Read more: http://owlsalive.proboards.com/thre...a-holden?scrollTo=327369&page=1#ixzz2P3VhvXfH
one more: "Olif....how long have we been saying that we need a beast in the middle of the pitch. He is that beast, and he has good touch and can pass. He's a level or 3 above either Prutts or Semi." Read more: http://owlsalive.proboards.com/thread/17366/madine?scrollTo=327401&page=1#ixzz2P7c8MfuK
Tactical error by DJ - he didn't play Stu or Olli but we still managed a draw... that looked like a win for a very long time... FFS! oh well.. http://espnfc.com/us/en/report/344344/report.html?soccernet=true&cc=5901
Watching Sheffield last week against Blackburn was very interesting and i managed to make a profit from it and this week they will be playing against Millwal. They might be able to win again but their last match against Millwal was very close to a draw 3:2 but i will bet on them because i read in bettinginfos.com that Millwal have started to perform very poorly
This league is so tight this year it's unbelievable. A short string of results and we're well above the relegation zone. If we hadn't conceded that last minute equalizer against Bristol City we would have been in 10th right now. Even more amazingly, if we keep picking up points and other results go our way, mathematically we can still reach the playoffs
i saw a table the other day (before the millwall game) that showed what it would look like if the season started in like november or something. we were in 4th.
yeah, what's been really amazing over the last couple months has been who else has been winning. it's been impossible to pull away from the bottom as so many of the other teams there have found some form. obviously, though, all those points have had to be taken off others, so now, all of the sudden, a slew of them have been brought close to the mire, themselves, and lots of positions are suddenly in play. some of the clubs in the scrap right now have to be wondering what the hell happened.
that's really cool. in the end, he'll've played only, what, 5 or so games for wednesday? still, it'll end up being a neat little reminder of a decent stretch for SWFC. ... and, of course, the highlight of stu's career.
Just a quick thought from a fan of Stu. Glad to see him finally getting back on the pitch, and also glad that he was able to come right in and help you guys stay above the relegation zone....it's great that the fans have taken so well to him.
oh yeah. and for the record: i knew he wasn't going to stay. but when one of your favorite USMNT players signs for your team ya gotta pay tribute somehow. Wednesday kits were on sale for 30% off. The timing on this was impeccable.
The Championship table this year is ridiculous. The difference between 10th and 22nd is 6 points - I don't remember it EVER being this close. With four games left, Middlesbrough or Leeds could lose all of them on the trot, and suddenly find themselves in the bottom three, or Peterborough could win all four and end up just outside the playoffs. We have to maintain the pressure, and if we get five or six points from the last four games, and we'll be OK. Blackpool away, Ipswich at home, Peterborough away, and Middlesbrough at home - a win and a couple of draws, and I'll be happy.
