So, I became fairly infuriated when I read this today. http://www.thebentmusket.com/2016/5...nt-soccer-seattle-sounders-chivas-usa-retired "I think New England fans are one of the most loyal fan bases you can have as a sporting team," Joseph stated. "They backed me when I was in contract problems. They always supported me and knew I had the best intentions at heart. I just want to say thank you for that." If given the chance, Joseph, who gets to regularly interact with Revs fans on a post-game show on 98.5 the Sports Hub, would like to express his gratitude in a more direct way. This, of course, would mean standing in front of the Riders, Rebels, and other fans one more time. "Hopefully, one day I can walk back on the field, whether it be just to wave the fans goodbye or just get a standing ovation," Joseph said. "Hopefully, one day that will come." Come on, Brian Billelo. What kind of a club forces their legendary players to beg for a chance to thank the fans for their support? And it's not just Shalrie. Did I miss Taylor Twellman Night? I mean, he's only the leading scorer in the history of the club, and arguably one of the best forwards in league history. Did they do anything for Steve Ralston? Matt Reis? Whatever they've done to recognize the great players in their history is nowhere near good enough. In fact, it borders on embarrassing.
They could easily take a page from the Sox ownership and bring back their US Open cup winning squad from 2007, as a 10 year reunion next year. That wouldn't right the wrongs of the past, but it would go a way toward doing so (Ralston, TNT, Shalrie, "I dream of a team of" Matt Reis).
Well you see, they tried to bring Ralston back for a send-off game, but forgot to add him to the roster. They got so much negative feedback from that, they decided never to try to honor a former player ever again... Where is the ROI on that? A savvy businessman would never spring for the cost of something like that. The SGs should have a combined tailgate and invite Shalrie. That's about the only way he'll get a chance to do what he wants.
I recall fondly attending his first match as a member of CUSA at Gilette, wearing a homemade "I'm here for Shalrie" t-shirt. I went crazy when he scored a goal, and was promptly told by many members of the soccer-crazy crowd to "sit down and shut up."
The way this organization does things I'm not shocked that I haven't seen any sort of celebration for Joseph or Twellman.
Right - yet after agreeing to a deal with the pats, their top draft pick Cyrus Jones was publicly welcomed by Bob and Jon Kraft. It was covered on the news tonight. Imagine if they ever did that for the revs draft picks? I do hope there is a fan-organized reunion of revs legends at a SG tailgate. Want us to put the org to shame.
Reading about this travesty only confirms that the Krafts are not worthy of one collective milliliter of supportive testicle sweat spent by the entire population of New England. I'd wish them DOOM, if not for the fact that even DOOM would have no effect on them.
Reading this stuff is completely depressing. It would have cost Kraft next to nothing to have events honoring Twellman and Joseph - in fact the team would probably have seen an attendance boost as fans came out to show their appreciation for players who deserved it. Twellman in particular gave his all as a player for the team and cut his career short as a result. The least the Krafts could have done is to publicly thank him for the great years he gave to the team. That they can't even make a token effort in this regard speaks volumes about the Krafts lack of commitment to the Revs, the players, and their fans.
Before you sound off on this, it might be good to first check and see if Kraft even knows who these two individuals are!
And you wonder why Twellman will barely admit to ever playing for that club over there who shall remain nameless.
Lets see if he replies! Everyone should comment as well @RevsPrez how about a legends night to honor shalrie, twellman, ralston & reis? They were never properly given a send off. The fans want it!
Mind you, it's also the 20th anniversary of the club and they've nothing to honor the history, former players, etc.
They don't have the time and resources for that, because they have put them all into their number one priority: a new SSS.
Just out of curiosity have the Rebellion or Riders ever approached the FO on this issue? ever brought up at STH nights?
