U can let in 2 against Atalanta, it is what it is. It's just when we don't pressure them and play our chances, when we know their back 3 is weak, that pisses me off. We should have been 2 up before half time but we were to scared to play our chances.

 

Mertens can do anything firmono can do as well as being a better goal scorer. It's the 2 pairing with him that are too weak imo. They either lack pace or quality in front of goal - two crucial things every winger on top'ish team posses. I'm afraid it's gonna be like this as long as insigne is untouchable on that left wing. Ive said it before, I think it's time for him to be neutered and get dropped into midfield. On many assets he reminds me of a papo gomez but selfish and a worse shot

 

I agree we need a new number 9. But every time we sign one, Mertens puts them back on the bench.

If we can get a young star as an understudy/rotation to mertens, to eventually take over its more than fine for me. I would rather spend money and strengthen the 4 wide positions we have.

Young star as in not 80 million price tag. More like 30-50

 

Mertens have about the same amount of goals and assists per minute as Karim benzema on a much weaker team. There is no point in saying he is over the hill because of age. He is still a modern number 9. Based on whoscored mertens creates more and scores a little less.
As a side note mertens scores more than a goal per 90 mins in CL

Milik is a waste of breath.

 

What if Lozano becomes useless again? Then all we will hav is Insigne who is limited by his physique, despite performance.

Insigne's pace has decayed in a very early age. He was much faster 5 years ago

I would sell:
Milik 50m, Rui free i don't care,
And if good offers come I would sell:
K2 100m and zielinski 60m, Hysaj 25m
If dumb offers come:
Ruiz 150m, Lozano 50m and Allan 80m

K2 is at a different level and needs to play for titles. Allan we cannot replace at all. Ruiz or zielinski I don't care who as long as we get paid either 150 for ruiz or 70 for piotr

Either way no one knows what's gonna happen

 

Can juve just sack sarri already, so he can come back. I don't know who else is interested in managing our mess. People say gasperini, but why would he come to napoli? He is a level above and has no ties to the club

 

But it looks like he is panicking in a desperate attempt to get back in top 4. We have been spending about what? 6-8 times more money since sarri left?

 

Lobotka is not physical at all. I want to se him paired with Allan and Fabian.
Allan's top level is still above what our other midfielders have reached in their careers. We are struggling because we win the ball very deep which doesn't give room to engage creativity. Allan is much needed here, what he does, neither torreira or anyone else we have looked at can provide. We don't need more creativity in midfield, we need ball winners to roam around freely. Demme is not a good defensive midfielder anyway he is too small, lobotka offers more going forward as well as reading the game better especially when he has to dictate and engage play.

 

But in order to play like that we have to sign a talented manager, who specializes in passing patterns and high pressure. Those are hard to find within our budget, only the much hated sarri comes to mind.

 

The difference in gk is striking. Why is ospina playing?! We play for nothing might as well give Meret more experience ffs

 

Gattuso can tell his staff to copy sarris tactics as much as possible, but his decision making is still atrocious. Takes out our 2 best midfielders and keep the turning donkey zielinski on the pitch. Picks useless Opsina over a top talent like Meret. I honestly can't see us do anything if we lose Ruiz, he is carrying that midfield both ways, whilst zielinski is doing fancy turns and producing nothing. Then he takes mertens off? The guy has not had 1 bad touch the entire game... And he gets replaced by another polish donkey
