bummed I couldn't see this game, but I was at work regardless. also it wasn't aired here at all in the USA. I believe FOX Sports Premium/+ in Argentina aired it
He had a good showing, I like Villa he provides a lot of threat from wide and really drove right at Barca. I think he is going to be knocking on the NT door pretty soon, looks like perfect competition to push then overtake Cuadrado. You could definitely see in a year refining his finishing Villa could be a big player, also with guys like Muriel/Izzy/Cucho who can play wide but are more likely to cut inside having a guy like Villa to be The understudy to Cuadrado Who seems at home staying wide and creating width for those central players its nice to have him.
Unless Pavon is moved to the other side or vice versa, Pavon will get the starting nod over Villa as he was Boca's biggest impact player last year (alongside Barrios). Hoping Barrios finds a solution to shoehorn him in as he's adapted very well to this team.
I think that the sacrificed for villa could be.........Cardona....... Pavon is essential as you said. Mauro Zarate is in good level...and is the new reinforcement..... Cardona is use at the left wing...and is easy to see that he is slow and irregular.....(for exmaple yersterday) and tevez is sub at this moment... Is sad that boca have a super roster.....bad a coach that doesnt have idea to optimize his players.
good point on Cardona. Still love to see as many Colombians out on the field as possible. Schelotto has been killing it in their Liga but I think if they dont win any major silverware I can see both mutually stepping away. I still see them as the best team in Argentina. River has plugged some huge holes with Armani as he keeps them in many games but it's a matter of time before that gives.
I watched the game and I didn't even realize this guy is Colombian. He played really well. Barrios did ok too, he is not lacking confidence.
Angelici already promised Barrios he'll be sold in December. A while ago Boca have been working on looking for potential replacements, they were looking at Didier Moreno in preseason.
Think in January you are likely to see a few of the stars leave after the Libertadores. Barrios and Pavon sound like the most likely to make the jump to Europe, that is most likely then Villa's spot with Cardona and Villa on each wing.
Do you think Cardonas discipline hurt his Europe chances? Remember the Mexicans wanted like 8 million for him. No way boca will pay that much
Our next Cuadrado? Very impressive, if he'll continue like this he'll be in Europe less than a year from now.
Hope he doesn’t go to Juve and just start diving every time someone passes him. He doesn’t get those calls for Colombia
I just hope this kid can keep on his feet and not flop around like a a fish every time he is touched like Cuadrado. And if he can put better shots on target than Cuadrado even better.
Tough to make a top 10 without doing it positon wise Other then James is #1 and Falcao #2 everything is is debatable. Club wise/NT wise. I will say Cuadrado career wise probably top 5 but for the NT he just developed too many bad habits at Juve and rather dive then make the play. The goal agaisnt Poland showed what he can do and could have been. Honestly my favorite 2 goals ever of Colombia were Cuadrados Poland goal and his goal against Mexico in a Pekermans first game. But that what he does/can do when he not diving
Everyone has their own opinion but top 5? That's a bit of a reach. Top 10 maybe. But I do agree, he has had great moments for the NT.
That's my initial reaction, but then again who would be yours? James, Falcao, and Pibe are definitely top 3. After that it gets cloudy.
I'd probably put Rincon, Cordoba (both), Yepes before Cuadrado. Cuadrado is in the mix with Angel, Asprilla, Higuita, Serna, Alvarez, Escobar, Ortiz (I honestly don't remember much about him). I know I'm forgetting one or two. That's a rough top 10.
