The second innings was typically a bit slower than the first during the first couple of rounds of games. If you both scored three an over in the first innings, I'm not sure why you'd expect it to go up in the second. Anyway, I set my declaration target in my last match based on trying to leave the opposition about 50 overs to chase, based on knocking a bit off my first innings RR, and wound up more or less nailing it.

If you wind up a bit high, the worst that'll happen is you'll come out of it with a draw. If you set it too low, you could leave them too much time to chase too low of a total, and end up losing.

    End of Over 40 (4 runs). declaration of war: 132-4, runrate=3.30 (1st Inn: 337-10)
    Lead by 128 runs. (Rambo's XI 341-10)
    Matharu 11-2-37-1
    Graham* 21 (37 balls)
    Charles 8 (19 balls)

Last Wicket: Borrowdale st. Tate b. Mead 20 (FOW: 112/4)

Going to be an interesting last 2 sessions. Too bad I am at work and having to look over my shoulder every time I want a score update.

kopite, sorry! not at work today so I haven't been on battrick or bigsoccer as much as I usually am :D

    anyways, you won!

in the 49th over, by 1 wicket! you were 208-3 at 40.1 to 256-9 at 47.2

you were always ahead of the run rate in the last 10 but you lost two wickets in the 44th and two in the 45th. Solkhorn hit the winning run at 48.6

Mission accomplished vs. Doobies today... my bats made his bowlers work, but still posted a relatively low total so that my bowlers will have a shorter day.

i pulled a win against Rovers Town out of my ass. scored 212 and bowled them for 39 runs! Coezter was on fire. that being said, i think my boys are going to be a bit tired for the Cup match on sunday. i'll just make sure to bowl 5 actual bowers ;)

funny email in my battrick inbox today

a friend of mine who knows nothing about cricket asked me why he wasn't winning his first class games even tho his ratings were way way above his opponent

I looked at his most recent game. he skittled his opponent for 50-odd and then proceeded to make 2,700-3 over the next three days

No lie, 2,700 runs. No declaration target had been set so his batters kept batting and batting and batting -- energizer bunnies the lot of them!!

a quick lesson on declarations was needed there!!

    funny stuff tho eh? :D

    39 run victory!

whew. i think it was a good idea to put my two best bowlers on for the last 10. any of the rest of them would've gotten clobbered.

100 runs is just too many for my bats to cover in the last 10. I think the most I've covered is somewhere in the 70 to 80 range. Sarge in particular was scoring rather more slowly than I needed.

bowled them out for 128 and now have passed that without loss. looking to get to the max for batting points by the end of the day and then to declare and bowl them out tomorrow for an innings victory. T Rose didn't bowl too many overs the first time around. I may move him down the priority list for the 2nd innings.

End of Over 22 (3 runs). Cook County Cricket Club: 129-0, runrate=5.86
Lead by 1 runs. (Palm Leaf Club 128-10)
    Mamello 9-0-46-0
    Conroy* 70 (65 balls)
    Harris 55 (70 balls)

methinks i'll be declaring quite quickly tommorrow morning...

End of Over 68 (11 runs). Cook County Cricket Club: 421-3, runrate=6.19
Lead by 293 runs. (Palm Leaf Club 128-10)
    Mann 12-0-94-2
    Conroy* 205 (202 balls)
    Mapie 105 (85 balls)

ok, that wasn't the last over. add 6 runs and that is where I'm at.

My mostly second-string bowlers have managed to give up 270 vs. the most overmatched team in the series. I suppose maybe I should blame the slow pitch, given that in OD play those always seem to produce high totals (notwithstanding the description).

It's gone from a certain win to a risky match. I've got six wickets down, and I'm turning up the aggression on my bowlers, I'd like to have a nice lead when I declare around 370 so that there's a chance of avoiding my second innings.

playing away against a newish team, bowled them out for 42 on their slow pitch, overnight was 3-450ish with my best bat over 140 & a trainee on 3. decided to set declaration to 690 to get him some experience, graham was 293 & borrowdale scored a century, declared @ 3-690ish.

they are 5-150, so should wrap up the game early tomorrow.

so much for taking wickets today

    End of Over 64 (1 run). Palm Leaf Club: 128-4, runrate=2.00 (1st Inn: 128-10)
Trail by 183 runs. (Cook County Cricket Club 439-3)
    Gardner 12-2-25-1
    Traynor* 8 (45 balls)
    Lebohang 36 (84 balls)

didn't know crappy players could just stick around all day. granted some of my bowlers suck, but still it is bowling friendly conditions and there is no way that they can win

a huge win. took long enough. they lasted 40ish overs in the 1st and 89.1 in the second. my team is going to be tired. Rose finished with 18-12-10-8 in the second innings. really wish he didn't have ot bowl that much, and I really wish the max overs per spell were followed.....
