Not sure we’re saying we want a celebrity jersey. I don’t. I’ve long been a proponent of clubs sticking within their color palate for easier brand identification. Fancy-ass 3rd jersey for occasional use? Sure. Knock yourself out. IMO third jerseys should be a thing. More options for fans to spend money on.
Give me Black & Gold Gold & Black White with Gold & Black no stupid colors leave those for the GK , GK looks good in different colors
I'm not following the discussion on other forums, but are a critical mass of fans seriously wishing we had a celebrity jersey?
"Critical mass" is a strong term, but there's a vocal plurality debating which famous person should be honored and immortalized with a Crew kit.
From what I was told, our color was supposed to be "gold gold" like pirate treasure, LAFC, or whatever else. Unfortunately, in 1995-1996, gold fabric wasn't exactly commonplace and yellow had to be substituted. (I'm sure they could have gone to gold ASAP but, for whatever reason, they didn't.) As a result, we're in that awkward place where the official color is/was gold, even though yellow is used.
https://tv.apple.com/us/channel/tvs.sbd.7000 There's three preseason games on MLS Season Pass tonight...or at least there seems to be. I had one playing, then came here to post and now I'm hitting the log-in screen.
I can't even get the MLS coupon on Apple TV to work. I get stuck on the "looking up offer details" page. I might just buy it to spite hang. And because I don't have the mental energy to give to f*cking Apple.
This is definitely better quality than any MLS package ever before. Full HD 1080p. The graphics are minimalist but they’re super crisp and the video quality makes the Bally app look like a high schooler streaming on their phone
Columbus Crew being MLS' "gold team" has been treated more dismissively by Columbus Crew than by any other team, fanbase, or the league office. In recent years we've worn black or white far too often at home for us to lay claim to being MLS' "gold team" We did it to ourselves, we did. We and no-one else.
Wasnt our new front office, along with changing the badge and attempting to drop "Crew" from the official team name.....trying to deemphasize yellow and make us mostly black/gray/white? Hence the look of stadium seating? Or am i misremembering that exactly?
Crew is yellow. That isn’t going to change yet there may be fluctuations in the shade/tone. I just bought a Crew shirt from Supporters Supply that is more mustard yellow. It just doesn’t matter. We are yellow.
Someone with Dallas told me that it was a test. They didn't publicize it because if it didn't work or something got screwed up or whatever they didn't want that to be the big news while they're busy trying to sign up subscribers. Apparently it went off flawlessly and they feel.like everything is ready to go.
Confirmed by the club? No, of course not. But Arace reported in early 2020 that ownership was seriously considering changing both the club's name and colors as part of a 2021 re-brand: I don't believe Arace just tossed that out there, and I do believe he had sources. Of course, due t the article, this became a hot topic of conversation at the Supporters Summit at Mapfre a short while later where Dr. Pete poo-pooed the idea that big changes were planned. Uh-huh. As shitty as the rebrand roll out was, it could have been worse. Just my opinion, but I think the public reponse to the Arace article was vitriolic enough that a more agressive visual rebrand may have been dialed back.
At that Summit a friend and I cornered Dr Pete and he said the Haslem women did not like yellow and they didn’t think many women liked wearing yellow. So he didn’t confirm we were looking at changing colors, but insinuated the Haslem’s weren’t big on keeping it.
You're right...and HDNet was also 1080i. But either way, it's still better than ONN's yellow blobs vs other blobs.
You have made this point before, and there is some truth to it. We, as you have said, have not been a good gatekeeper of “being the gold/yellow team,” even from the very first season. Well played with the Radiohead lyric. A good sophomore effort, which paved the way to their best albums OK Computer and Kid A.
We may never know for sure. But I remember seeing (and remarking about it at the time) that there were renderings put out of the stadium that had the seats alternating by section between black and yellow. That seemed like an odd thing to go out of their way to do if they were planning to change the team's primary colors. Well, putting grey and black triangles on the seats in the stadium seems like an odd thing to do if you have no intention of changing the team's colors. I've gotta think that was the plan at some point before public sentiment intervened.
I'll take The Bends over OK Computer, but agree with you on Kid A, so I'm not gonna put you on blast.
