I spent a fair amount of time scouting the crowd during the ACC Tournament quarterfinals last night. http://www.ibiblio.org/footy/2003/2003_acc_men.php
Greg Andrulis was the first one I found. He was talking to Jamie Watson. This guy was with them. I don't recognize him, but he talked with Jamie for quite some time:
That looks like Dallas's interim coach on the right And the guy behind the fence was Tim Hankinson - who's now talking with one of the unidentified folks.
Thanks, Dustin. Now who is the other guy. He sure looks familiar.... hmm Anyway. Someone found something worth calling home about: Group Shot!
The guy in the middle is Mark Simpson, the former United GK and current assistant coach for Virginia Beach of the A-League. Also, the "mystery" guy talking to Jamie Watson is MLS VP Todd Durbin, who is in charge of Project 40. Doesn't take a genius to know what Durbin was talking to the ACC Freshmen of the Year (at age 17) and a member of the U17 team in Finland about. Any of the people wearing Kappa stuff aren't from MLS as Kappa is no longer an MLS sponsor or supplier and when they go out in public like this, MLS officials and coaches never wear stuff from companies that aren't inked with MLS. Those guys are likely from A-League teams though, who knows, they could be from Europe, where Kappa has a strong market presence.
If you look carefully at the picture of the coach in question (the one Andy thought was Dallas' coach) it appears that he works for the Richmond Kickers as their emblem appears on his jacket.
Guy in the middle is Richmond Kickers Asst. Coach Jesse Myers. The gentleman to Myer's left could very well be Kickers Head Coach Leigh Cowlishaw.
That looks like Martin Dell, director youth development for Richmond. http://www.richmondkickers.com/players/dell.htm
O.k., possibility here: guy on the cell phone could be former Charleston Battery player and current Asst. Coach Michael Anhaeuser. The Battery do have a trial perdiod set to commence in about one month. The Magpie
it's not Anhaeuser. Plus, Auggie would be wearing Battery gear, which is a black and sponsored by Lotto. Not sure who he is though
From left to right: Asst. Coach Jesse Myers, not sure, General Manager Billy Hallock, Head Coach Leigh Cowlishaw, Richmond PDL Coach Martin Dell (I think), another one I'm not sure about. The guy on Myers's right in the other picture isn't someone from the Kickers. The stuff he's wearing looks a lot like DC gear, but I don't see the logo on it anywhere. Hallock is the guy in the blue jacket on his left.
The second guy from the left is the coach of the PDL Raleigh CASL Elite. Laurie Calloway is the one on the far right. Calloway is apparently the coach of the Syracuse Salty Dogs! http://www.syracusefc.com/home/?build=team:coaches
It makes sense that they'd make the rounds. Wednesday in Cary would've gotten them 6 of 7 ACC teams, and quite a collection of U-17 and U-20 internationals.
