    Re: WH Senior Staff shakeup

you forgot the Frist "gay marriage" amendment, gun control, flag burning, etc...all the talking points "greatest hits" for your listening pleasure.
seen it and heard it all before.

But will the public buy it again?

Funny that they are shaking things up a bit, as if they aren't getting the message out enough. It's funny that BushCo. don't realise that if you've got the media, congress, judiciary, etc...and you still can't convince people you are correct then maybe you are not doing the right thing?

    Hmm...

Wonder if they will go the evil route like Ari Fleischer again. That dude was ice cold.

You gotta respect him a little bit more after watching McClellan flopping around on stage like a dying fish.

No confirmation of this from other sources yet. I would be surprised if he gets the job as he does come with a fair bit of baggage on the partisan front. As bad as McCellan was, his errors came on the job and were job-related. Snow already has baggage and might well become the story himself.

Now that I think about it, he should just hire Rush Limbaugh and cut out the middleman.

Just to add a bit more to that perspective, I view the position of Press Secretary as being the lowest of the low. I have no love for any of them, regardless of party.

Scott McClellan really made you appreciate how smooth Ari Fleischer was.

Both guys, like all their predecessors, told you varying amounts of BS on a daily basis. However, at no point with McClellan would anyone listening to the BS who wasn't already in "the base" actually believe it.

McClellan was a complete waste of time. You may as well not have a Press Secretary if they're just told to tell as little as possible. What a waste of taxpayer money he was.

It was good, but nowhere near the absolute brilliance that was "The Decider"

    Yup.

But you know, sometimes these changes are made with minimal effect on the administration.

They do it just to make it seem like they are making changes in the administration when really nothing is happening.

They could do the same with Rove, release him publically and still have him calling the shots.

Yet, Think Progress (a "nonpartisan" website devoted to "progressive" causes, and connected to the Center for American Progress) has a bunch of quotes noting that Snow has been attacking Bush from the Right. (And some of the quotes go back to the 2000 election)

Ugh. I hate the right's constant blaming of everything on "liberals". Bush's problem certainly isn't Reid or Pelosi. It's that he and his policies have largely been somewhere between ineffective and disatrous. (With the possible exception of the currect economy).

I don't read that as blame. I read it as an indictment of the job that GWB has recently done with public opinion.

And I can't say I disagree with Snow. GWB got alot more done when he was a bully. More respect form the public as well. I can bet that a good percentage of his present low poll numbers have alot to do with this.

Snow will be a very pleasant surprise to the Left, and the Right. He is a very level-headed guy who doesn't buy into a lot of emotional garbage. I saw his on Maher's little soap box several months ago and he was the only sane guy there that night. He kept his cool and made rational points when the other 3 were just standing back yelling at each other.

I have also listened to his radio show a few times. The guy does come from the Conservative side (which won't win him any friends here) and is a very well-reasoned and rational guy. I believe even David Gregory will have to give him some respect.

I think that you're muddling "cause" and "effect."

Edit: Which is to say that he isn't going to be bullying anyone with 65-70% of the American public thinking that he's full of shit.

(I'm not taking credit for this)

Does Tony Snow have to quit his job over at Fox?

I would assume so. What do you think of the pick?
