But IMO Bradley our best player, and I'd go as far to say that he put in our best individual performnce in almost a decade.
This formation seems the way to go, finally Klinsmann figures out how to utilize a CM heavy formation. He definitely deserves credit for benching Beckerman and starting Torres, Boyd and Cameron (despite the mistake). Fantastic win.
Landon there said what I was saying why it's going to be FAR more difficult against Brazil, our two attacking players won't be nearly as free as they were tonight. Hats off to Bradley, Jones, and Edu.
It won't work against sides that play with good wings. Far too narrow for a side like England, France, and Brazil. They work the wings very well.
And to think some people were still leaving Donovan and Bradley off their lineups. And yes the Anthems blew, wtf Florida.
I have to believe that Scotland was either jet-lagged, heat-lagged, brain-fart-lagged, or a combination of all three. They're a better side than they showed. That said, it's a nice way to get this five-gamer underway.
I was extremely skeptical of that lineup, and I was 100% wrong. Jose Torres was fantastic. And was (at best) the 4th best player on the team. Bradley, Donovan, JJ. . . wow
I could argue Jones was the best player, but I think trying to find a best player misses the point. Lots of great performances out there. The bottom line is the team understood the movements nescessary tonight, and it led to some very good attacking soccer.
Totally played Scotland off the park. I'm excited to see how this system works out with Clint and Jozy.
This is the best the Nats have looked in a long time. The inventiveness in the final third is probably the best it has ever been for the USMNT now with Klinsmann dictating strategy. The effect he has had on how this team plays is absolutely breathtaking. Such a stark comparison to the Robobob era, Klinsmann is going to maximize this team's capability.
? Not at all. The tactic tonight was brilliant, and perfect for a side that don't use the wings as much. I wasn't crticizing Klinsmann at all, just pointing out he'd have to change up his tactics to play against sides that like to get wide, and have dangerous players down the wings.
Great performance by the team tonight. Nice interchanging in the midfield three along with Torres and Donovan occasionally coming inside. Boyd looks promising up top but needs some more seasoning. My main concern with rocking the 4-3-2-1 going forward is flank play, particularly on the left side. If Torres is pinching inside and Johnson is overlapping, the team might have some problems defensively on that side. There were a few crosses that no one closed down tonight. I guess playing Brazil is as good a test as any to see how the team does against better competition.
