Remember Matchboxes? They still make em, but now they're made out of cheap plastic. I had those suitcases full of them, I wonder if it's still stashed away in a basement somewhere. There are some other cooler models now, too, like BBurago, but I don't know where to get them here in the states. My brother had the Tamiya kits of F1 cars, but I didn't have the patience to put those together without looking like it had smashed against a concrete barrier.
I collected F-1 1/43 diecast models. I owned about 30 to 40 of them. It included most of the recent world champions. I am still working on collecting all of them. I owned a few special cars such as the Tyrell six-wheeler, Senna`s last Williams, Gilles Villenuve's cars, etc. My latest purchase: James Hunt's 1976 McLaren World Champion, Alain Prost 1985 World Champion, and Gilles Villeneuve 1977 debut McLaren.
