Oh...Wow...Finally dead persons are awakening..
FT-Ittihad 1-0 Ahli
A ridicoulos match.First, it was like watching some football in between injuries, second ittihad players were all over d ahli players and forced them 2 make 2 changes due to injuries, third and last dont know why ittihad coach opted to field a ultra defensive formationn when we had nothing to lose.
Ittifaq 0-0 Shabab
Fateh 0-5 Hilal
So all to play for last two match days.
Maybe, just maybe the coach is thinking further a field of this game. A new coach trying out a tactic in a pointless league game for the club to prepare for something else maybe?
Maybe, even the fact that they were playing a side that had only lost one game all season long. Maybe he expected to play defensive to counter, but maybe Ahli were so poor that defensive tactics weren't needed and it goes to show that Ittihad can't adapt mid game.
Disappointed with Fateh, so OK a dead rubber match in theory but disappointing none the less that they got thumped at home. I was kind of hoping that they could maybe get a win or a draw which would show us that the gap is closing, all this showed me is that there is one hell of a gap between the current top three and the rest. It tells me next season will see the current top 4 and Ittihad at the top and the rest, well, just the rest.
The tightest league race in seasons. What are Hilal thinking? They are on 56 points, that would have claimed them the championship any other season but this.
Credit to Shabab and Ahli on uping their game. Just a pity one has to lose out as both haven't won championships in donkies.
TBH i predected that this league is dull , although i didn't watch most of the matches of this season but i guess the compitition is at its peak . three clubs can get the leauge
Hey there saudi league fans, i have noticed Al Hilal is slowly catching up, and have just won five-nil their last game.
Do you think they could be able to eventually triumph ?
And, here is my main point, how is Yoo Byung Soo doing these weeks in your opinion ?
Is he impressive, is he efficient enough ? Could he rightfully claim a place in the korean national team as a reward for his latest performances ?
I really appreciated this goal scoring beast back in his incheon times, but here it seems the guy is inexorably fading away. Should he move to Europe or come back to the Korean peninsula ?
Nasser 5-0 Tawoon
Ansar 0-1 Raed
Hajer 1-0 Najran
Faysaly 2-2 Qadsiya
To be fair enough, Hilal is out of the title race though they still have a slight chance to win , Odds are against them as the top two teams have a easy encounters which surely will end in there favour and keeping Hilal out if the title race.
the team is bad, and that as they say is that. no matter how good the indvisuals if they can't play as a team then they are bad. maybe next season they do better job
Ittihad 1-1 Nasser
Najran 0-2 Hilal
Raed 1-5 Ahli
Shabab 3-0 Ansar
Ittifaq 1-2 Faysaly
Qadsiya 1-1 Hajer
Fateh 0-0 Tawoon
So all to play for in the final day.
Qadsiya and Tawoon to fight for relegation in there final match day against Nasser and Raed respectively.
Ahli-Shabab will fight out in the with Shaba holding a slight advantage of getting a draw and winning the title on the other hand Ahli have lost only 4 points at home and are looking deep favourites to win the match.
So, after the final match day on 14th of this month, will the top 3 teams play in the Asian Champions League while the 4th goes into play-off for a spot in the ACL ?
What will the remaining team play e.g., 5th, 6th ?
Actually, the top 8 teams qualify for the King's Cup and the winner of that gets an ACL place.
Shabab is the real favorite. They haven't lost a league game since last season, their 29 games right now a new Saudi record after breaking Hilal's 27 from last year. Plus they won all their away games this season the league except the last Ittifaq game which ended in a draw.
imagine after all that alahli defeats alshabab
I hope Shabab goes for the win rather than try to get a draw. It's unlikely they will do that but you never know these days.
Well if you watched these teams play the last 3 years its been usually Shabab holding the midfield attacking, with Ahli depending on counter attacks parking the bus. Hell the last game in the cup where they won, we were 10 men since the first half, and they scored from a counter in the last men, after we really pushed forward trying to finish the game. Even if you compare players, Shabab has a similar offense to Ahli, Shamrani and Victor. Ahli will be missing their other main foward Emad, and their missing Palamino their midfielder. Shabab's midfield, defense, and goalie are better than Ahli. So it seems unlikely for Ahli to win, but it is football.
So whos gonna win tonight.Ahli fans will play major factor in the match suppporting the team all the time.
My Prediction-2-0 for Ahli
Shamrani scores..1-0 for shabab..
Ahli equalisez..15 minutes to go.
Its all over..Shabab wins the 2011-12 Saudi League. Seriously speaking both teams did not deserve to lose this title but one had to lose it.Ahli lost there ground once they were held at home to Fateh or else it might be sumthing else today..
Congratulations Shabab fans.
Raed 0-2 Tawoon
Hajer 0-0 Ittihad
Hilal 3-3 Ittifaq
Nasr 3-2 Qadsiya
Qadsiya and Ansar drops to first division.
Great season, and Shabab nearly even matched Hilal's record of last seasom. won the same, draw the same, scored two less, but conceded 2 less, same goal difference.
Like you say, Ahli didn't deserve to lose it either, both teams did themselves proud and gave the fans an exciting finish to the season. Hilal and Ettifaq played their part.
I do think though that if their was a couple more games to go then Hilal would have over taken them both!
In four days time we have the final games and Faisaly and Raed aiming to get that 8th spot.
As for Ansar and Qadisiyia. Well, over the last two seasons, Qadisiyia have shown us their true position, so paperwork an only keep them from the drop once again.
Ansar just had one hell of a bad campaign, so here's to them thumping Najran 6:0 in their last match to show us what we will miss.
That's not likely. You're saying Shabab, who have been undefeated all season will suddenly lose twice and Hilal will guarantee two wins?
Very very doubtful.
What i'm saying is that if a few more games were to be played, such as a 30 game season, then i think a team experienced like Hilal would rope them in.
I didn't say Shabab would lose twice, but look at the amount of draws they had (same as Hilal last season). Sometimes, you need to turn them draws into wins, luckily Shabab didn't need to do that, but sometimes losing the odd game but turning draws into wins is what champions are about. Shabab, for me, to be a really top team in Asia, would need to turn them draws into wins.
Maybe it's just the calibre of the league we have now that means drawing 7 games out of 26 can still take you to a title.
What this does tell me and future coaches of teams in the league, is don't get beat, don't lose, but don't particulary go looking for that win. In the final 3rd of the game,s if your drawing don't try to turn that draw into a victory, just stick to what you have.
This is what winning a championship with 7 draws tells me. They didn't lose, but they didn't take the championship by storm, which for me kept the championship exciting, but tells me the team has a long way to go to be very competitive in Asia.
You said "Couple of games". Couple means two.
And Shabab won the league by equaling the record set by Hilal last year. They deserve to win and it has nothing to do with the the caliber of the league. 75% win rate is amazing and has nothing to do with the "going for draws"
Look at Shabab's matches, many of their goals come in the final third. Look at this website for Shabab's stats this season:
If Shabab wanted draws, they could have had them....and lost the league. It's because they always go for goal in the final minutes that they beat Al Ahli.
The reason they didn't take the championship by storm is due to the bottom half of the table being weaker. Compare this season to last season, the bottom half of the table is weaker but the upper half is stronger which means the upper teams trying to get the championship are getting more points from the bottom teams and keeping the championship race close.
