If Rodrigues can't go, if I'm Nashville I'd high press the crap out of us. Rodrigues gets us out of a lot of jams by taking a few dribbles to break the press. Yes, he can be careless at times, but most of the time he's good. But both Beason and Mensah are statues and are uncomfortable with the ball at their feet. There were times last night when Beason was just kind of "stuck". They let him hold the ball but cut off his options and he didn't know what to do (smart coaching). Gruezo and Yueill + Akapo and Trauco are going to have to work their tails off to give them outlets.
Well, Not expecting too much, so, a win would be a +. Only a few more home games left, so I'm going to go enjoy a night out with my wife & friends, have a few beers and hope to have something to cheer about!
Oh, and while I was watching the game last night, I kept thinking about the last time I was in Portland to watch a Quakes game. The Ultras were right in front of the stadium chanting "We don't give a F&$K about Portland!". Good times!
It’s obvious from our record there that it would be a lot better if the team DID give a ******** about Portland. 17 times of not caring hasn’t worked…
Nashville is in the same spot in the east as we are in the west with a better record. I smell defeat…
Hope Hoppe makes an appearance playing CAM....said in the press conference last night (paraphrasing) that he has told Luichi he's comfortable there but will play where ever he is asked to play.....
Godoy goal incoming, we should have hung onto him. There’s a reason he slotted right into a Nashville side that make the playoffs every year
I'm sure the team cares, but not the Ultras! I've hated Portland ever since they gave Johnny Moore a concussion at Spartan Stadium and it it kills me that the Quakes have never won up there in MLS regular season play. At this point, though, I'll take what I can get and today that would be thinking of hanging with friends this weekend and funny memories of past games...
I thought Godoy was good for us his first year, especially his cross field passing. The following years, though, if I had a dollar for every time he blamed a teammate for one of his screw-ups or failed to track back and help on defense (and the other team scored a goal) or made some bone-headed tackle which resulted in a yellow card (and the other team scoring on a free kick), well, $$$. I was glad to see him go. Having said that, yeah, he'll probably score on us. Pretty much every Quakes players we trade away does!
Yeah we probably should have kept Gregus too. Seems Godoy and Gregus are having a better time then Monteiro
