Honestly, this is important because i'm not sure the Quakes will be able to compete unless they build out one of the best academies in MLS. There is Nor Cal talent. Can they find and develop it?
Sadly the Quakes U15s have been beaten by RSL 3-0 in the semifinals. Despite the scoreline they played really well but couldn't finish their chances. They made a huge mistake in the first minute with a bad pass out of back that gifted RSL an easy goal. The RSL strikers physically overmatched the Quakes back line.
I concur with Earthshaker. Thanks for providing us with Academy news. It's difficult to find anything on them, sometimes i'm lucky at finding stuff on twitter, but your info is much more valuable haha. Thanks again Jeff

Putting the country on notice. 🔥Congrats to @SutterHealth @QuakesAcademy player Cruz Medina for winning Best Player of the @MLSNEXT Playoffs! pic.twitter.com/AoQGkyc3Ck— San Jose Earthquakes (@SJEarthquakes) July 3, 2021
Early partnership put together by Leitch brought him to the team. https://www.sfexaminer.com/sports/sf-glens-prodigy-cruz-medina-to-join-san-jose-earthquakes-academy/
That would probably be dependent on if he wants to attend college on a scholarship. I’ve heard a few stories of players/parents turning down homegrown offers to maintain college eligibility.
🏆 Fresh off winning the U15 Golden ⚽️ at the @MLSNEXT Cup with our partner @SJEarthquakes Academy, Cruz Medina joined @Telemundo48 & @CarlosYustisTV to talk about his early development with @SFGlensAcademy and Bay City FC, as well as his @USYNT dreams.Btw nice 🧣s! #UpTheGlens pic.twitter.com/vgj1kmwYQB— San Francisco Glens SC (@SFGlensSC) July 7, 2021 Only 3 years younger than Cowell. I hope he keeps developing because his skills may translate into a Pulisic type player.
For those wondering what the Earthquakes were planning on building at the Santa Clara Fairgrounds site, I found this proposal online. http://sccgov.iqm2.com/Citizens/FileOpen.aspx?Type=4&ID=202459
What's the deal? Was the plan turned down? Was an alternate plan approved? I looked up "Santa Clara County Fairgrounds" under news and see nothing. If you have information, please share.
that looks promising, wonder what hurdles there are left to clear. Also, wonder what the rest of the property will be used for? the map makes it look like the Quakes would use about 25% of the property.
I wasn't able to open that link for some reason. I found this link though (maybe it's the same thing?) http://sccgov.iqm2.com/Citizens/Detail_LegiFile.aspx?ID=103701 I think "Urban Development Direct Recreational Vehicle Resort" is a parking lot for RVs? not sure. Either that or Go Karts.
Well, I think this is the meeting that was held. If you have any luck figuring out where they discuss it please share the time stamp. 12 hours of video.....
Yeah, I am wondering if the Quakes even know the answer yet. That looks like a nightmare to figure out.
Earthquake academy facilities at the fairgrounds were discussed in the last 7 minutes of the video. Not a lot of info, but it appears that the Quakes are meeting with the Fairgrounds management next week to discuss the plans. They seem supportive of the Quakes’ proposal to me. Fingers crossed.
