Sonoma Sol preseason friendly on 3-7, then open cup qualifiers potentially take us right into the first week of the season. At this point the Open Cup is the only way I see it happening.

How are they still going? I.e. How can they sustain stadium rental and so forth when there's not even the product to push on-field? Why are they still going? What's their raison d'être? This club hasn't defined themselves in any meaningful way and this it's difficult to see why they would sustain losses etc.
The product on the field isn't as bad as you think it is. This last game, Stompers actually had more opportunities on frame, but Sac was more opportunistic and capitalized on a few mistakes. Finances and results aren't directly tied together, but good results don't hurt. I would say just being in the NPSL for a 4th straight year is meaningful. That in itself is bigger then what some of these fly by night teams do by winning in their first season and folding the next year. We do this to give the Bay Area youth a place to move on to after High School/College and play at a higher level instead of playing for an adult team or some US Club Soccer team. Not to sound like a D-Bag, but I make enough money a year to blow 15-30k a year helping them out and not hurt my family. So they wont be folding anytime soon.
For me it is. Not the club as a whole, they would like to one day turn a profit. Until then, I'm here to help on that end and when they set me free I will take that money and find a new way to inject it in to the local soccer community.
Because they want to? If they're like 95% of the teams at their level they're in it simply to have a soccer team and to provide an alternative sporting option for their community.
No one is stopping SFCityFC from joining USL PDL. But Stompers apparently have a territorial agreement in NPSL, as do most of the teams in NPSL. It is what it is even if City is arguably the better run organization.
Well no there isn't. Then again, who knows whether they'd have had problems with Burlingame Dragons or some other entity. Also travelling to Southern California isn't the best. There's a hell of a lot of unexplained expense which is why people got involved with the MPSL in the first place. So the cost difference between playing in NPSL and PDL is very large for teams in the Bay Area. These territories right explain why we are so limited in this division. You'd think they'd want more teams, more competition, more press, especially given that fans aren't going to cross county lines but nope, it's stagnation.
