Pretty obvious the Quakes weren't serious about this game. Starting who they did was a white flag. I'm fine with that except that they then subbed in their better attacking players after it was far too late. If you don't care about winning, own up to it and let those young players get the whole experience of getting beat like that. Don't act like you suddenly care about winning.
By the way, this is a prelude to a rough stretch in league play. I don't think the Quakes get another win for at least a month.
The final score is: 2 - 0 GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G P.S. = Please don't post results of other soccer (including MLS) games and other sports' games in this thread until at least 24 hours after they've ended.
Not nearly good enough. Shit!! Richmond and Bouda were both crap. Shae was crap, but I can forgive him because he’s just coming back from injury. So clearly, not the best choice to start him, and certainly he should have been pulled sooner. TT did well, but had almost no one to work with. We looked better after the subs, but damn, Chofis was a freaking waste of space out there. I’m steamed!! We should have had a better plan to beat them and we should have put more of our starters on to start. F@#$!!! Go Quakesfans!!
Time to root for Omaha, but definitely NOT sweet. We should have put a much bigger and better effort into winning the Open Cup. That was within reach, and screwed the pooch.
Well, for Sacramento, they day we graced their village was the most important day in their lives, but for us, it was Wednesday.
Yeah it gets hot here in the Sacramento River Valley, but what a goal by Roro Oh, @Lopez_Roro | 😳 #USOC2022 What have you done? @SacRepublicFC pic.twitter.com/0ckMJrpUQx— U.S. Open Cup (@opencup) May 26, 2022
A+ reference. Though if I'm being honest, San Jose and Sacramento are in the same tier of California city. Both are large and instrumentally important in the state's economy, yet they are severely overshadowed thanks to much better PR from one particular city.
I really can't imagine the Quakes make the playoffs when they can't defend. The goals are gonna dry up on the Quakes' end, but their opponents won't experience the same drought.
Covelo bottled it. Needed to come out in an aggressive 352. Love Judson, but this wasn't the right game for him to start. Sac was on the ropes the first 20 mins, but Covelo's passiveness let them get their tails up. Sat next to Sac OG supporters and told them we suck ass at defending corners right before the goal -- not surprising. Sac fans were good craic, exchanged scarves. In the best and most nostalgic way possible, attending reminded me of the Buck Shaw days, rattling bleachers and all.
Don’t kid yourself. We aren’t even going to make the playoffs, much less win a game. This was our best chance for glory and we threw it away.
On the bright side, we can now focus our full attention on possibly making it interesting for a while, but not making the playoffs.
