I have to admit, it would be funnier than hell for him to come up on the stage and announce that Warren Smith's San Diego Footy McFootyface has been MLS granted slot #29. But I'm a sick puppy that way.
I think we are well prepared for a move to MLS. We're fairly used to crappy officiating (did you see the last Quakes game?), terrible fields (looking at you NYCFC), and fickle owners. Should be a smooth transition for the fans.
Well, they're reporting that we're holding an event, and that the Bee linked it to MLS. But they're not saying anything themselves. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019...ay-major-soccer-announcement-coming-next-week Commenter on the MLS story captures my thoughts: All of the other recent official announcements of MLS awarding a franchise have been MLS announcements, not club announcements. So it doesn't seem like it would be that announcement, but it would be weird for this site to hype a lesser announcement. Makes me just a LITTLE bit worried...
I mean the team released that tweet about the after party which featured the MLS logo. I know Sac fans are Doom default... but come on. It’s happening guys.
Or, it could be the announcement of SRFC being awarded a NWSL team, or new ownership, or Simon Elliott replacing Greg Berhalter, or a tentative agreement with MLS to have a team by 2057, or.......DOOM

Yeah, i saw that, and after the fiasco last month, i need confirmation before i believe. So I look to MLS's website, and you know what it said? "Sacramento Republic says they have an announcement." That's not confirmation, especially when the previous two expansion announcements were MLS announcements, not team announcements. Look, i want to believe, but we've been played like a marionette by ownership and MLS for five years now. No more "dance, monkey, dance" for me. I'll believe it when i see it.
Guys, the team cannot announce an MLS announcement. This is the way it worked when the Crew was saved. The team threw the party (unofficially) in October. The official Garber event was in Jan. League could not announce until all the details are finalized. You guys have had the delay part already. Maybe MLS wants an announcement on TV this week-end. My brief Doom flirtation is over. Congrats. And no, I am not jinxing you.
Exactly. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. (Not a train. I swear!) Though this time there is no insider with a proven track record giving us the thumbs up. Though perhaps the Bee + the other reporter + Twellman + the team scheduling an event is enough. You do not throw a big party for a small announcement. Presser? Sure. Big party downtown? Nope.
